  1. So what your saying is, we already on another offseason winning streak!? BACK TO BACK TO BACK OFFSEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS HERE WE COME!
  2. If this logic were true than every player above replacement level on the Tigers / Indians / Rangers / Rays, in that order, should be listed in order of their contribution.
  3. You would think we would hear about this as soon as Mike gets back to Anaheim. If we don't hear anything in the next couple of days I think he's staying.
  4. Trumbo is a potential non-tender candidate IMO. Not this off season but depending on what he is paid next year and his performance next season, he may be an unattractive option in 2015.
  5. This shift occurred long before DiPoto was here. I'd say it goes back to the start of the Reagins era and the advent of the 'win now' philosophy.
  6. That's kind of like, if you owned a business, saying, 'if a customer chooses to shop somewhere else, then that is on them.' The team has the responsibility of making staying here long term the most attractive option. This is southern California, he has six years to put down roots here, Arte has the money, there is no reason other than incompetence to let him get away.
  7. To be fair the poll question was 'Who do you think WILL win MVP" not, "Who do you think SHOULD..."
  8. It's not so much that he will be cheaper, as that he will likely continue to be an Angel beyond his six contractually obligated seasons. Trout needs to continue putting up all time great numbers to get that huge contract while the Angels can offer him whatever salary they want, but just for one more year. After next year Mike will likely get the highest one year contract ever awarded to a first year arbitration eligible player - he wont get that big contract yet, but he'll still be set for life. Once he gets those millions he has little incentive to take a below market deal from the Angels before reaching free agency.
  9. I think it has something to do with the hamstring, at least twice this year he has sat out because of it. Also I know it's not popular to say on here but he has seemed to be about a half step slower this year compared to last.
  10. You obviously haven't checked out his war.
  11. Why is he playing baseball!!!?? HE SHOULD BE DRAWN AND QUARTERED!!!
  12. It has a lot to do with the low threshold for rookie eligibility. Most guys lose their eligibility and never get a shot at rookie of the year. Even Trout just barely made it in last year. Calhoun is probably 150+ Ab's shy of being able to get into the discussion, but his rookie status is long gone.
  13. I don't think the Angels would've instructed the A's before hand that they weren't allowed to celebrate on the field...
  14. McCutchen should run away with it. Far and away the best player in the NL right now, propelling his team to its first winning season in forever. I think you overrate Molina, I agree WAR undervalues catchers, but I don't think Molina's contributions to that team are significantly missing from the stat. The Cards success has more to do with how ridiculous they've been doing situationally. Also Hanley is far mroe deserving than Puig, and Kershaw dominates everything other than FIP, which is a weak stat to base MVP voting on.
  15. http://www.thedetroitsportssite.com/2013/09/19/video-prince-fielder-steals-a-nacho-from-tigers-fan-after-chasing-foul-ball/38228
  16. Of course this was the same logic we used last year when dumping Haren and Santana.
  17. It's not the ability to stay healthy that is bringing his trade value down. It's the effect it has had on his ability to prove that he is a capable major league hitter to other general managers. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big PBJ fan, and I see him as the type that can hit .280 with a few walks, some extra base pop and grade A+ defense in center field. General Managers around the league do not, nor can they value him that way because he has not proven it over the last two years.
  18. He has to have more value than Morales. He doesn't have any health concerns, plays a defensive first position and is a similarly valuable hitter. His contract is pretty friendly too (not that Morales wasn't). Vargas was a pretty good return as well, I think I'd be happy with getting a slightly better than Vargas pitcher in return for Howie.
