  1. Shane, I think you need to slow it down with the fantasy baseball leagues... they are clearly affecting your ability to interact with real human beings.
  2. Your brain isn't clicking tonight. It's easy to say 'look at the numbers, my team would've been so much better' a whole month into a season of disappointment. The bottom line is that some of the most advanced metrics and statistical projection systems don't see 'your team' being all that much better in the long run. With your plan we are still in the same boat.
  3. The difference between the two groups is maybe 1 win over the course of the entire season based on WAR.
  4. Zips projections for the rest of the season: Guthrie: 145 IP 4.53 ERA 4.69 FIP Villanueva: 101 IP 4.01 ERA 4.00 FIP Lohse: 145 IP 4.03 ERA 3.74 FIP Blanton: 115 IP 4.85 ERA 4.28 FIP Vargas: 158 IP 4.50 ERA 4.42 FIP Hanson: 141 IP 4.09 ERA 4.13 FIP Deck chairs on the Titanic
  5. I had wanted DiPoto to go after Anibal. Seemed like a good budget pick up (compared to Greinke) which would've allowed us to keep Torii Hunter. The Blanton signing instead was a huuuge WTF moment. The rest of your list though is questionable, at least in terms of whether or not they will continue to pitch as well as they have. Even if they do though, and even if the Angels had magically been able to bring in all those guys you have to ask how much better this team really would be. The organization still has no depth, the bullpen is still barren and the rotation, while likely being better off so far might not be better from here on out.
  6. It's been a reasonable play for the past 3 season. It made more sense back in 2010, but the alternative options are getting less and less attractive each year.
  7. Hamilton and Pujols are immovable. I don't care what the Dodgers just did. Weaver and Wilson could be moved for some salary relief but not for excess value. Aybar and Kendrick are valuable pieces but they are getting paid fairly. They could be moved but the question remains whether or not there is a team out there desperate enough to give up something valuable for either of them. Iannetta wits into this group as well. The real value we have is in Bourjos, Trumbo and Trout. Those are the guys that can be moved for significant value down the road. A trade of Trout though, likely doesn't bring back enough to justify it. If we keep him though, he is going to get expensive very quickly and will likely fall into the Hamilton / Pujols category by the time a rebuild bears any fruit. If we opt to keep our valuable pieces then we really aren't rebuilding all that much.
  8. It really depends. What are we selling that is going to bring us excess value back? What players are we planning to build around, and when is the target window?
  9. Which players should he have brought in? What should he have given up to get it?
  10. I'm on the fence about DiPoto's pitching moves. I would not have made the same moves and I would've invested more money in the pitching. That said, DiPoto does not have a lot to work with. He can't pull a pitching staff out of his ass. He added like 6 pitchers to the staff this offseason. 6 pitchers was clearly not enough, but who is available, and what do we have to trade? At some point we have to get around to placing the blame on the decision to push forward and go for it back in 2010, rather than try and rebuild.
  11. They were one day apart. We obviously don't know what the connection was but I'm sure we've all come into a little money at some point before and blew a large chunk of it on something we shouldn't have...
  12. This is why I think he didn't know what the count was. He was so upset with Maronde that he wasn't going to let him throw another pitch. The umpire made him throw another pitch, so Scioscia made Maronde throw a wide one.
  13. This team really is the Astros with Mike Trout and an extra $100+ million in payroll.
  14. Seriously? He located his curve far better tonight than his fastball.
  15. They are waiting for the next strikeout!
  16. I have to agree. Richards has shown little command of his fastball tonight. Poor location on a fastball is not a defense for the pitch selection in this situation.
  17. Fans see his stuff and they get excited. He throws a great game every once and awhile and we get excited. He strings a few quality starts together and we get excited. We look at his performance in the long run and the results just aren't there. He has the ability to be very good but he just hasn't shown any results to indicate that he will be..
  18. I think we can officially classify this as a poster actively cheering at the injury of an Angel player, and one who was playing very well at that.
  19. This will be a rather heavy page to turn...
  20. Excellent... just wait for the 0-8 he's gona get to before the night is up.
  21. Actually it look more like Roth is our 8th inning guy... as well as the 7th inning guy...
