  1. The bullpen was handled very well for an early April game. Fortunately though, it's an off day today to give everyone a day of rest. This is why 12 pitchers are important to carry in April, until the starters are stretched out enough.
  2. Except that Hanson did hit 91 in the Freeway Series. Besides, as Chuck and Michifan were alluding to, did Greg Maddux rely on velocity after he turned 30 in 1995? As long as Weaver's not hitting say only 86-87 and not averaging say 83-84, it's all good.
  3. i'm just glad Boras' players had to wait longer to sign than in the past. I would say the owners are learning, except Cleveland's still gave 4 years/$48 million to a guy (Bourn) who is just the next level up from Bourjos. He steals more bases and gets on base more often, but not at a clip making his contract anything close to worth it. Not to mention they gave 4 years/$56 million to a guy on the wrong side of 30 with just above average numbers (Swisher) who is inconsistent in the outfield.
  4. Regehr is a solid veteran blueliner acquisition, whose grit was needed to overcome not having Mitchell. It still hurts though to not have Greene's leadership as asst. captain on the ice. That is so important come SCP time.
  5. More pitching like in the Raviners game, and staying healthy, would be huge.
  6. This has been missing since the late 2000s. It is one game, but it was an epic one by EVERYONE in that pen who pitched today. We definitely would welcome that happening more often. A divisional title is riding on it.
  7. Now that was great bullpen work today, just a 0.57 WHIP for it in 7 shutout innings! Not to mention 9 Ks Fortunately, they have a day off tomorrow to rest.
  8. Only listened to him for the Baseball report anyway. Besides, I can get that on MLBN as well.
  9. Disappointing to lose a 3-1 lead, but at least they did salvage a point. Minnesota has been red hot though, with their ridiculously gifted skaters.
  10. If Richards can just repeat pitches more consistently, he's a #2/3 starter waiting to happen. More of those Detroit like starts (8 innings shutout ball) and less of those Arlington starts (losing large lead and previous games momentum) would be real good.
  11. But can JCVD dance like Chuck Norris? Great start and stuff for Hanson tonight, the health is always going to be a concern. Keep on pitching like this and stay healthy, and he is no #5 starter, more like a 3/4.
  12. Congrats Hank, A.B., Brendan, and Andrew.
  13. Why not, we're accumlating relievers at a pace like the Raiders accumulate washed ups, anyway. Halos Statue of Liberty: "Give us your worn out, your tired arms."
  14. What Tin said There was no reason from the start to invade Iraq, it was only for W. to "clean up H.W.'s mess".
  15. Nancy Pelosi says reading bills is not necessary towards passing them. She learned well from Botoxer and Palin.
  16. Today's CEOs are greedier than any I can remember going back some 40 years.
  17. I'm guessing they are also enjoying FGCU's NCAAT run, seeing how many white folks are throwing down mad dunks for them.
  18. I'm just glad we don't have to look at the lower minor league guys anymore in 2013. Austin Wood has potential, but last night is why he still needs another 2 seasons in the minors. Can we please focus on putting just the regular pitchers out there tonight, as we did last night except for Wood.
  19. Any more questions on why Trout needs to be in LF? His arm is decent, but he doesn't have the ability to throw runners out at the plate, just at 2B or 3B.
  20. Holland has always had brilliant starts followed by poor ones. He has yet to show any consistency throughout the season, and is generally still a 4.00 ERA pitcher. He has to change that soon, in order to be considered a true #2/#3 starter.
  21. Not the best of debuts last night, although he can partly thank HK for that (muffing sure GIDP into only one out and runner advancing into scoring position).
  22. If Trout continues to play like he has for the next 2 years, I imagine Arte will do the same for him? Posey essentially only has some 2 seasons of MLB experience (308 games played).
  23. In the meantime, Pirates, Marlins, Lastros, Royals, etc. are all puking in their Happy Meals at this news about big extensions. Contraction can't be too far behind.
