This team is not undisciplined, it is inexperienced.  Key young players here with little minor league experience.  They are trying to learn on the go, and the coaching staff is appropriate for the job.  I think many of you are used to seeing free agents filter in to the team over the years.  Unfortunately many of those guys failed.  We have not even finished the first month of a six month season.  Many of you wanted to rebuild, this is what happens as you do so.  Mistakes are going to happen.

I disagree. There are only two guys that lack experience and that's Neto and Nolan Schanuel. Everyone else has had plenty of MLB/MiLB experience.
I would add O'Hoppe, but he's been playing well.

This team has a massive amount of vets like Trout, Drury, Hicks, Sano, Estevez, Moore, Cimber, Garcia, Cisnero, Strickland, Adrianza, Rendon and Anderson.

Between the vets and the rest of the team there should be no excuse to being inexperienced.

All we are watching is a poorly built team. That's all.

Any way to do a vpn on your phone and pull the games in on mlbtv on your phone (to either watch on phone or cast up to your tv in your house)?

I use Surfshark for the phone. It's an app you can download

If the answer to the Trout question is no, then it doesn’t matter what you add in free agency. If this rotation isn’t strong enough to get them to the deadline then I doubt adding one guy like Snell would have made much of a difference.
This team needs two things, one, health, two, internal growth. Without those two things free agency doesn’t really matter.
When Eppler traded for Upton he said in the moment that the team played well enough that it deserved to be upgraded (or something to that affect). This team needs to play well enough to deserve the same thing. If not then trade Drury and all the pen arms at the deadline.
I wanted a starter added, but I’m not going to pretend it’ll make a difference without health or Development.

    Very fair points.

If this team can stay healthy and play the way they're supposed to then maybe we aren't far off the a WC spot. We were "close" last year.
If Trout and Rendon stay healthy then maybe come deadline time they warrant that upgrade.

  4. This just sounds like a sales rep selling their product no matter how good or bad it is. And rightfully so for Perry. That's his job.

But at the end of all this I still feel like this organization is blind. They've got to look at who they are competing against and realize they're a 4'3" person entering a tall person convention.

Time will tell with the season but there are MAJOR questions i'm monitoring:
    Will Trout stay healthy?
    Will Rendon actually play?
Can this be Rendon's last season?
    Is the rotation strong enough?
Can the beefed up bullpen actually support the rotation?
    The hell happens with Adell?

  5. I've said this before and I'll say it again. I'm down to add Montgomery and Martinez. Gets us a little deeper on both sides of the game and might make others more tradable.

Does is get us into the playoffs? Probably not, but it definitely makes us more competitive without losing picks or handing out a stupid contract.

Though Perry needs to figure out how to give us playoff baseball. I'm getting tired of this.

PECOTA came out and projects the Angels for 74.5 Wins. If I’m not mistaken this system has no way of accounting for coaching upgrades, which for the Angels are abundant with a complete overhaul.

How might we quantify these in terms of 2024 Wins?

    Wash>Nevin

    EY>Haselman

    Enright>Wise

    J Washington>Thames

I personally think these are extremely significant upgrades that could have an enormous effect on a squad more than half full of guys 28yo and younger, especially considering last years group was likely detrimental rather than helpful

Well shit then the coaches will get us a 90 win season with that Ron Washington attitude!!!

JK we will be a 70 win team.

No, I don't believe they'll contend in 2023. But I do think they'll be equally as good as they were with Ohtani. I think Trout will be healthier and more productive, as will Neto, O'Hoppe and Schanuel. And the bullpen will be better.

All of that combined will offset the singular loss of Ohtani and result in a 75-ish win team.

Which means they'll be bad. Very bad.

I've been on the Justin Turner signing for awhile now.  Either Turner or Votto would be an excellent mentor for Schaunel.

Schaunel doesn't need a vet first baseman to mentor him. He's got Trout and Washington to mentor him ( if anything).
Minasian needs to go out there and sign a bat and then trade for a starter and hopefully this team can sniff a winning record.
