Wantz is intriguing going forward.    Like with any new pitcher to pro ball, will need to tighten up the control.

His third level this season, much like Adell, Rengifo, Canning and Suarez.

the Ohtani and Pujols situation is roster hell and is going to screw the team.
Pujols needs to be bought out.  The sooner the better.   I know that sounds like mindless fan speak but really, getting rid of Pujols is what’s best for the club.  Not likely unfortunately.

Honestly, Fletcher should be taking reps in left field and center field and trying to become a Chris Taylor/Chone Figgins type that can play all over the diamond. He’s got 3 of the hardest positions figured out already and he’s a good enough athlete to do it

I'd be shocked if Shoemaker was rendered a contract. Makes little sense to do so given his salary and health.
Ramirez is another guy who is a non tender candidate.

2020worldseries reacted to Angel Oracle in OC Register: As Rene Rivera prepares to return to Angels, rookie catcher duo will be broken up
How is that, when his OPS, albeit in only some 55 at bats, was over .800?    Play him, and get someone to bite on a trade before September 1.

It doesn't hurt to give Rivera some at bats in hopes of him doing well so we can trade him ahead of the waiver trade deadline at the end of the month.

The Angels need as much velocity in the pen as they can find. It's time to stop having Noe Ramirez and eduardo Paredes types being rolled out there with their 91 MPH fastballs

Lots of velocity in the bullpen next year. Ramirez and Meyer were both throwing mid to upper 90's as starters. If they're heslthy, productive and in the bullpen, that could be two 100 mph fastballs added to the back end of the pen.

For what it's worth, so far in AAA, Buttrey has posted:  4IP, 2H, 1ER, 1BB, 7Ks.  He's got a double plus fastball to go with a plus changeup.  Looks like he could be a late inning reliever for us.  The trade of Kinsler for Jerez (second lefty in the pen) + Buttrey might end being a huge one for our pen overall.  Who knows - maybe Buttrey could even emerge to be a closer?
Just looking at the relievers, but next year we appear to have Parker, Anderson, Alvarez, Jerez, Bedrosian, Ramirez, Buttrey, with Middleton likely due back by mid-year and, possibly, Meyer being converted to a reliever.
We are gradually building bullpen depth.  This is great to see.

    8. Luis Rengifo, SS/2B, Angels
Team: Triple-A Salt Lake (Pacific Coast)
    Age: 21
    Why He’s Here: .455/.538/.682 (10-for-22, 6 R, 1 2B, 2 3B, r RBIs, 4 BB, 4 SO, 2-for-3 SB
The Scoop: Grade out Rengifo’s tools and there isn’t anything that will jump out right away. But the sum of the parts, instincts and ability to control the strike zone as a middle infielder make for a prospect with a chance to be an everyday big leaguer. Despite being one of the youngest players in Triple-A, Rengifo hasn’t missed a step after his second promotion of the season, batting .315/.379/.468 through 27 games. (BB)

A dream of mine is to sit in the photo well at an MLB game. On Saturday I received last minute notification that our family was being invited into a dugout suite at Angel Stadium. This being the closest thing I've ever had to that opportunity I took my camera.  We've been going through some brutal family stuff lately and this was a total godsend and a respite from the storm.

I shot all of these from behind the screen with a good camera, it's no where near the quality that sports photographers use, but it still did a decent job (Canon 60D with the stock lens for camera nerds)
I thought you guys would be able to enjoy these with me.

If the Angels thought he had any chance of being able to be a major league catcher, he’d still be a catcher.
