So Blash is now compared to Manny Ramirez, Nelson Cruz, Stanton, and now Bautitsta.

Anything after the regular season ends is considered post. Check Websters.com.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to totdprods in Rotation
It'd be huge if he managed to come back and even be depth. Nate Smith to a lesser degree. If Felix Pena can turn into the next JC/Bridwell, even better.

Angels were right to trade for Alex Meyer IMO, I hope he is healthy next year.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to CubsFan in Trade to address RF
The original point was that if you have a chance to add a hitter like Machado for a reasonable price then you do it because you can always move players to different positions to accommodate a big bat. And I've listed plenty of examples of players who have moved positions to accommodate a big hitter or to prolong ones career (in Biggio's case).
Are you telling me you wouldn't bring in Machado, even if he was a free agent who madly wanted to come here (maybe he loves Disneyland) just because we have Simmons?

BackUpTheTruck reacted to Taylor in Gameday Thread: Angels vs. Twins (5/12/2018)
I'm so glad we have Kole in the lineup for his glove.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to Taylor in Trumped
But God wanted Trump to be president. He's just like King Nebuchadnezzar, or something.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to Taylor in Spin Forum Dumping Bin
So it sounds like we need to be a little more racist, because that's better for blacks economically?

Anything is better than CJ and Hector.
Seriously, the staff has been balls!

A far cry from trotting out Bridwell, Chavez, NoStuffco, Scrubner, etc. in 2017

BackUpTheTruck reacted to Warfarin in Rotation
Let's take a moment to recognize how awesome our SP has been this month so far. They're currently ranked #3 in WAR for the month of May in all of baseball. Even though we're down a few guys (Shoemaker, Ramirez, Bridwell), we have our key ones healthy and productive - Ohtani, Richards, Skaggs, Heaney, Tropeano, Barria. In addition, we have both Canning and Suarez looking fantastic in AA, and Castillo looking more than serviceable down there, too.
A weakness for pretty much all of last year, our SP is now suddenly one of our greatest strengths. Would still be great to have an elite top of the rotation starter to accompany Ohtani, but that said, we're looking great overall I'd say.

The Twins pitching has the potential to be quite good. Galverson will be called up soon. The Astros with Cole, Morton, Verlander, Keuchel and McCullers are simply too good for us to win the Division. The second wildcard is ours at this point. We have to get our bullpen settled out and hope that our starting pitching continues as well as it has. We need to be more dominant at home.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to Inside Pitch in Is Kole's defense worth him being in the lineup?
Nobody with a sub .400 OPS has enough glove to overcome his lack of bat in the current hitting environment, much less so when that person plays a corner OF position. He's been so very bad it's almost hard to believe it's real.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to stormngt in Trout's clutchnes or lack thereof?
Fair enough, I commonly use the term "not a slave to quantitative analysis", when I feel people rely too much on stats.
-
BackUpTheTruck reacted to eaterfan in Is Kole's defense worth him being in the lineup?
No. Maybe if he got a hit once in awhile the game wouldn't depend on making an outstanding defensive play.
Unless he's pitching well no player can hit that badly and justify playing.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to fan_since79 in Is Kole's defense worth him being in the lineup?
Upton was signed in order to give us 35-40 home runs and 90-100 RBI. His defense is what it is, we just have to tolerate it. He can't DH due to Ohtani/Albert, and if he did on non-Ohtani days we'd be looking at Chris Young and his anemic bat in the lineup. We just don't have enough parts to go around.

I’m glad you now see that Kole helped the team win last night.

BackUpTheTruck reacted to stormngt in Is Kole's defense worth him being in the lineup?
I thought there was a narrative that Kole could play all three outfield positions when he first came up.
