If Ohtani goes 0-25 at the plate like Willie Mays did at the start of his career, will we write him off as a failure?
Long-term view, guys. The kid will be just fine.

    A couple things...
    1. Shoemaker's splitter is his best pitch. It's the reason why he's a major league starter. Splitters do not work in Arizona. The desert air does not offer the same resistance as sea level does. They do not drop or fade. On top of which, Shoe is coming off injury. He's progressing.
    2. Spring Training will be particularly difficult for Ohtani. Hitters need reps to get their timing. Pitchers need innings to get a feel for their pitches and pitch through the dead arm phase. Shohei needs to get his timing like any other hitter, but with only half the reps, and he needs to gain a feel for all of his pitches, and work through things while splitting his focus.
Ohtani will be brilliant mid season, but I'd expect February through April to be difficult on an annual basis. May through July should look really good. August and September could be very trying as players tend to wear down at that time, and since Ohtani is pulling double duty and will be in his first season in American ball, the Angels may be best served resting him more in those months, especially if he is to be of use in October.

The issue with Moustakas was as much about the loss of international and draft monies as it was anything he would have cost.   Eppler seems pretty committed to making the team better, just not at the expense of adding to the player development going on.   That may change after three drafts, but it seemed highly unlikely going into the offseason and even less so now.

The market didn't buy into the juiced ball inflated power enough to look beyond his out-making tendencies on offense.
Posting a career worst walk rate in your walk year doesn't really instill confidence about your future among saber inclined organizations..   Outside of SF, all the big money teams are pretty heavily into advance metrics.
He would have made cake in the 80/90s...

Yes. Many question marks here. Will Kinsler be a stop gap to go after someone next year? Time will tell.

For that price I would have loved to see Mous at worst a bench player for us. Similar to Reddick/Beltran were last year for the Stros.

Depends....How does Moose follow up last year? Does Cozart play well at 3b and do you want to keep him there?

I know we might regret it. But it seems like Arrieta is there for the taking. He might be what we need for a potential wild card game.

I really don't like how the Twins keep making themselves better and the Angels appear to be done.  If Eppler thinks the Angels are good enough as they are, he is making a mistake.

It's hard to predict anything more than being a superstar. I mean where do you go from there? MVP candidate, and then Hall of Famer I guess, but can anyone ever predict that.
Optimistic as I am, I never even predicted Trout would be THAT good. I thought he'd be one of the best players in the game, like Matt Kemp and Jacoby Ellsbury (at the time, but better than both).
No one could've predicted with confidence that his name would be synonymous with legends like Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle. I just can't see those things in a prospect.

I don't think so, can't find any pictures.  I think that is just poor quality of the image.  The Angels wore the basic grays.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the halos bringing back the “Anaheim”  scripted roads.

I get the name change, but it’s unfortunate. The Anaheim Angels has/had such a good ring to it.

These will always be my favorites, along with the logo on the cap. Biased of course since I played little league wearing the California Angels uniforms/hat lol

i've never been a fan of the red on red scheme (apologies to mrs. @red321), so the option of a blue jersey with red lettering, or a red jersey with blue lettering appeals to me. i also like the blue cap w/red bill and red A on it.
more than anything, i wish they'd bring back the sleeveless jerseys. those were my favorite by far.
before i lost all my weight, i found a pro-weight sleeveless jersey and had it personalized with Salmon and #15. Can't wear it at all now. may try to get it signed and simply frame it at this point.

Something I read somewhere said darvish had a 5 year 100 mil offer with Twins and Arrieta had something similar with Cubs. Both agents trying to get another team to add a year. I surely wouldn't. I think Richards is going to out-pitch both those guys this year.

Rockies signing all three of these guys reminds me of the second year I ever played fantasy baseball.  I didn’t do well and I had shitty closers.  So when the draft comes around I had the tenth pick pick in a ten team league, which meant I also had the 11th pick.  I drafted Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman.  I was dumb back then as well.

Jarrod Dyson would make sense. Offers everything this team is looking for in a player. LH, can play all 3 OF spots, elite speed and good defense

Albert might be up there for lead in RBI’s this year... with that lineup, and with him batting lower in the order, look out. We all know he struggles to hit for a high average, but with a guy on 3rd you know he’s going to cash him in. There is no other guy, (not even Trout) that id rather have than Albert Pujols batting with a runner on 3rd, and 2 outs to drive a winning run in.

Hats lff to Billy for what he has done so far. Next up... Mous??
