This is his fourth full seasons. He has had two good ones (2014 and 2016) and two down ones (2015 and 2017). So he will be good next year.

Cold Calhoun. It is kind of getting late in the season to not get worried. August is almost here and his OPS is kind of way below .700.

...or the seven-game win streak in early September that brings the wild card tantalizingly close and gets everyone excited.
Then the crash and burn in the final week.

Grichuk's horrible. You are acting like he is setting the world on fire or something. Clevinger? You need to have more than one good season for a trade to be a mistake.

Pujols needs to ground out to one more double play to tie Ripken for the all time record.

Knowing this Angels team, they will be like 1 or 2 games under .500 by next week to give the front office a lot to think about at the trading deadline. When you think they are fading, they somehow win like two in a row.

If Grichuk was performing like a star, no one would bring up the fact that he was drafted ahead of Trout.

Young Jr's not a good player either. Hot start was an aberration.

second half....same ole Angels. We can't hit a lick. I don't think Skaggs, Shoemaker, Richards, Heaney or Trop can fix that.

Stats don't always tell the whole story. Quintana doesn't have the same luxury as Ramirez since the White Sox play horrible defense.

You never know, man. As far as I know, the Angels can still win the World Series if they make it to the postseason as a wild card. The thing about baseball is that it is so unpredictable. There is no guarantees that if the Angels make the postseason as a wild card that they will lose because all it takes is a team that gets hot at the right time to win it all. It would be a miracles but not impossible for the Angels to win it all this year.

Of course. A player can still be good and overpaid at the same time. No matter what, if we are talking about hitters, they probably all hit better than everyone on the Angels except for Trout. By the way, I never thought Trumbo was that good. If he does not hit for power, he is useless like this season so far.

JustATroutFan got a reaction from fan_since79 in About that second wild card...
Yeah, I checked the July schedule for the Angels in the seccond half last week and it is not going to be easy since they will face teams that have winning records at this point in Tampa Bay, Washington, Boston, and Cleveland. I could see them falling out of Wild Card contention really fast with the way this team is built. Shaky starting pitcher and inconsistent offense. The good news is that's Trout's best month of his career is July. OPS in July from 2012-2016: 1.259, 1.108, .846, 1.323, and .869. And last season, he still had a .435 OBP in a July that was considered "bad" for him. He might still hit .380 with 10 homers in just 14 games this July, even with a long layoff.

How was it a mistake letting both Vargas and Santana go? Vargas is a mediocre pitcher who is having the biggest fluke season I have ever seen anyone have. Santana was terrible in 2012 and had a lot of bad years as an Angel. He is a teaser.
