  1. Don't think it's high that due to the fact that the Angels open the season at Oakland at night while like every other teams would be done with their first game of the season already.
  2. Trout keeps on getting walks. Swim to first base, Troutster!
  3. I think that the year in which Trout was put up a dazzling performance in his Rookie of the Year winning season. Should have let him play from the 1st game of the season. He bought a lot of energy to the team that year, offensively and defensively. Offense started off sooooooooooo poorly that year, led by Pujols.
  4. One of the best players ever to NOT make an All Star team after the All Star Game existed. Dude could hit for power, average, and draw a ton of walks.
  5. ....and if they have a bad April, how confident do you feel that they will have a good season? I'm looking at the Angels schedule right now and it looks tough. 21 of those games are against teams that finished with records of .500 or better in 2016. Texas, Seattle, Toronto, and Houston.
  6. Hamilton hasn't been doing anything for years. And when he's in the news, it's for bad reasons.
  7. Awesome! Trout stealing bases again in 2016 was a thing of beauty. Hoping for a 30-40 or even 40-40 season in 2017.
  8. Love the idea! Would rather choose the high batting average, all-around Trout like last year than the just a slugger, low stolen base Trout. His stolen bases picked up after a very slow start in April last year. Had just 1 stolen base in April before getting 29 more SB's the rest of the year to get to the 30 mark. But it would also help if Pujols stops fouling pitches off when Trout is going though, so we'll see.
  9. I'm not an Angels fan by any means but Weaver was one of my favorite players to watch back in the day. Dude was good for many seasons with the Angels and although he had a good fastball back in the day, he was a guy who was good at mixing in a lot of his pitches. Which was why he was so good for many seasons despite never being a hard thrower. Best pitcher in Angels history, IMO.
  10. How about Kluber in 2014? That was his first good season up to that point and he's been good the last 2 years as well.
  11. He might have posted an ERA of 3.88 in 160 innings last year but he had an ERA of 3.10 in 139.1 innings pitched after a brutal April. Started using the splitter more and that led to his turnaround. I think he'll picth like that in 2017 and maybe even a little bit better since the Angels added 3 more really good defenders to the team in Espinosa, Maybin, and Valbuena. Team defense looks better than last year.
  12. Anything about Trout or the Dodgers, I am usually going to be reading about a lot.
  13. I actually think it's quite possible for the Angels to win that many games again. You look at their offense. Trout, Pujols, Calhoun, Cron, Escobar, Valbuena, and Maybin are all coming off of outstanding seasons with the bat. Richards looked really good in 6 starts last year before going down, Shoemaker was back to his 2014 form when he began throwing a lot more splitters, and Nolasco did pretty well when he got traded to the Angels. Bedrosian was great last year and if Street bounces back or someone like a JC Ramirez develops into a solid 8th inning guy, the Angels will have a good bullpen.
  14. Your team's offense looks really good. Trout, Calhoun, Pujols, Cron, Escobar, Valbuena, and Maybin are all coming off of terrific seasons. The "key" to getting to 90 wins will depend on how well the Angels pitch this year. If Richards and Shoemaker both pitch like they did in 2014, and one more starter surprises this year, plus Street, I see them getting to 90 wins. Kind of asking a lot but it's possible. It's kind of like the Angels coming into the 2014 season. Offense is not bad but pitching is the question mark.
  15. No, I just felt that Trout should have gotten a bigger deal. That contract that he got still makes him underpaid, especially when you have overrated Giancarlo Stanton getting an even bigger deal in the 2014 offseason.
  16. Somewhere, Trout's probably saying to himself," Why did I signed that contract extension with the Angels before the 2014 season?" In fairness, the Angels did win 98 games in 2014 but were a disappointment in the postseason after getting swept by the Royals. The last 2 years haven't been pretty for the Angels, missing the postseason both times.
  17. All-Around Trout hits for high average, a good amount of home runs, steal bases, and play great defense. Slugger Trout doesn't hit for great average but will hit a lot of home runs with not that many stolen bases. Trout actually only stole 1 base last April, before finishing with 30 stolen bases. So, he picked it up. So, do you think we will see all-around Trout (2016) or slugger Trout (2015) in 2017?
  18. The Mariners should have drafted Trout instead, hehehe. Hindsight is 20/20, I guess.
  19. Yeah, I have always thought that Pedro's 2000 season was the best individual season ever for a pitcher. Pitching in the toughest time for a pitcher and doing it at a hitters park like Fenway was impressive. His Adjusted ERA was 291, so he was about 191 points better than the league average for pitchers. Crazy.
  20. Dude hit 47 homers that same year despite playing half his games in a very tough place to hit. I know that is was during the height of the "Steroids Era" where it felt like everybody was hitting 30+ homers or so but still, 47 home runs in a pitchers' park is still impressive and so was his .284/.404/.604 slash line. I know his defense wasn't good, so that could have been the reason why he didn't receive a single MVP vote.
  21. Can't be Richards. You Angels fans do remember that Richards had a great year in 2014, right? 13-4 with a 2.61 ERA in 168.2 innings that year. JC Ramirez might though. Angels added three really good defenders in Espinosa, Maybin, and Valbuena this offseason. Ramirez pitched well for the Angels last year after getting traded from the Reds. Could have an even better season with better overall defense.
  22. Don't see the Angels finishing 3rd. Seattle still has better pitching to me because of King Felix and Iwakuma are better than Richards and Shoemaker. They also have a nice #3 starter in Paxton, something I don't see the Angels having. Offense won't be the problem for the Angels, it's their pitching. I guess it's still possible that the Angels prove doubters wrong like in 2014 but that's only if both Richards and Shoemaker puts up ERA's in the 3.00-3.50 range or something like that and have another pitcher coming out of nowhere to put up good numbers.
  23. How about Raul Ibanez? Ibanez was a good player, no doubt, but he played great against your Halos. Slash line of .323/.381/.518 in 154 career games with 24 home runs against the Angels.
