No it wasn’t a smart trade! Angels had the best offense in baseball that season ⚾️  Our offense dropped more than a 100 runs the following season. Why mess with success? Why mess with the continuity of the lineup? He was well liked in the clubhouse and a fan favorite. Our offense turned into 💩 ! 
I find it amusing that the know it all’s here still support the trade.

Mathis was my least favorite. I don't know how many times I watched him airmail a ball into CF or LF on a stolen base attempt. Then there was the one time he threw the ball over to Trumbo at 1B while 2B was being stolen. My reaction at the time was complete shock. Then anger, then I just had to turn that game off and get off the internet. 

The two pitchers I'd want to trade for, Syndergaard and Gray, have both been taken off the trade block. So I'd rather the Angels just spend the money on two of Cole, Strasburg, Wheeler and Ryu.

Hey I get what you’re saying but people thinking that Arte is once again going to pony up for another Trout AAV contract are just not understanding reality. There has to be a limit and some self control. Arte knows the game and he’s not going to shortchange himself because the fans are demanding that he does. 
I’m sure Arte feels that if everyone does what they’re paid to do they should already be competing.

sometimes I forget who I'm attempting to have a conversation with.  It's my own fault for engaging you.  

The key guys were definitely doing it. I’ve seen video of pretty much all of them (I don’t remember if I’ve seen Altuve, but I’ve directly seen it of the rest for sure). There are also things online arguing they found a way to cheat on the road also. Not sure whether that’s been confirmed yet though. It made an undeniable difference in their play. Guys like Bregman, Springer, and Altuve have basically been cheating their entire career. The league has been checking on newer ways that fans can’t verify for them to get the info other than trashcan banging. Their offense will be noticeably less super powered next year. No Cole will make them worse on pitching. No big FA’s will want to go there during the investigation  
The Astros won’t be much better than a 90 win team next season. Book it. 

Why you so worried about the Astros offense ... cheating or not it’s far better than the Angels. Btw Bregman numbers were average at home and MVP caliber on the road. 
Personally, I’m very worried about our offense. La Stella and Goodwin were career best imo. I believe in Fletcher yet unsure about Upton. I expect Adell to struggle some next season when he gets his opportunity. AP is hard to predict ... the same goes for Thaiss. Ohtani is going to get far less AB’s. Catching I have no clue what to expect offensively. 
I’d feel a whole lot better if somehow we signed Josh Donaldson 😃 The good news is I feel Eppler shares my concerns.

You do realize the Angels are under investigation too ... are the canaries singing left and right? Btw this does involve all the players since five of them were exposed already.

Cole, Keuchel and Contreras would make me happy. 
 
Very curious to know the package it would take to get Contreras. If it would still leave us a prospect or two to make a move at the deadline if we’re in contention
