I used to work for a company based in Seattle and I traveled there a ton.  The whole office up there was so jacked when the Mariners had that year winning 116 games. . .and then they didn't win it all.  Those people were devastated.  They were let down, shocked, even embarrassed.  There was legitimate shame happening.  They felt the baseball God's betrayed them and stole something from them.  For them it was very painful.
As an Angel fan, it was great and it remains a nice little jab a give some of the people I stay in contact with.
So ultimately I could really enjoy what happens with the Dodgers this year.
    Crossing my fingers. . .

I would equally enjoy them losing in the first round if playoffs as I would watching them lose 95 games.

Dtwncbad got a reaction from Vladdylonglegs in Pujols has been terrible
Looks like Pujols is swinging at 34.4% of all balls outside the strike zone.
That is twice the rate he had in some of his prime years in St. Louis.
For comparison sake, Bonds his last few years?
    12.5%, 11.4%, 13.2%, 11.9%
Pujols may have zero chance of being an elite offensive player going forward but his only chance at being acceptably productive is to stop this shit of swinging at crap.

We all know Bonds had chemical help? But I just want to note that a very substantial part of Bonds success late in his career was his plate discipline and refusal to swing at garbage.
Pujols is getting himself out so, so many times.
I would rather him get caught looking "too much" if it meant this nonsense of swinging at balls his bat barely reaches would stop.
I wonder if anyone has ever taken the time to examine any even loose relationship with on base percentage and striking out looking.  It is at least conceivable to me that you might find some example of guys that achieve a better on base percentage by having almost too much discipline (resulting in more striking out looking). . .so they get the K maybe in that at bat but they might have gotten themselves out anyway by swinging at a previous pitch out if the strike zone.
I would be thrilled if Pujols never swung at balls and that translated into a few too many called strike 3's.  I just bet his overall numbers would be better.

I don't disagree.  This is exactly why I said I'm fine if he ends up striking out looking more.  Whatever.  Try something different.  What is going on now isn't working.  So be late and have a mess of balls driven to the wall in right center. . .for a long single.  I'll take it.

At tge trade deadline I think players in the dugout should troll the media and stage sudden goodbyes and hugs for one player while they collect their stuff and disappear into the clubhouse.

I would give them Jones OR Marsh, Ward, and some third prospect that projects to be a serviceable bullpen arm.
I want to keep Adell.  He is on a more faborable timeline for when the Angels might need another outfielder as Calhoun puts on a couple years.

My wife and my 12 yr old daughter like baseball enough.  They like the Angels enough.  They like Mike Trout. . .and they like Pujols.
Frankly they can name about five other Angels but none of them are big enough "stars" really for them to care about.  Baseball isn't their life but its cool.
When my son and I want to go to a game, the fact that my wife and daughter are Trout and Pujols "fans" is just enough for them to be fine going to games.
If they don't want to go, we don't go.
When we want to watch the game, they are normally fine watching some or part of the game.
If they don't want to watch, we don't watch.
So we can all rip Pujols to shreds on his performance (I do) but I also see first hand how his star power helps the Angels.

Never intended to suggest me personally.  I hope he respects his relationship with the fans, which is at the center of his legacy.

I have enough patience for him to struggle through 2018 to get past 3000 hits.  But I really think he should retire at the end of 2018 if he is still performing at his current level.
I can respect his interest in 3000.  I hope he respects my patience for that and respects my interest in moving on after 2018.
