TroutField got a reaction from jsnpritchett in Gameday Thread: Royals @ Angels (4/22/23): Anderson on the mound, no Ward
Always result to personal insults in a baseball conversation lol
why does trading a closer not making sense in a season we planned on competing not equal common sense.
Make it make sense…

TroutField reacted to Angel Oracle in Gameday Thread: Royals @ Angels (4/22/23): Anderson on the mound, no Ward
Here we go again.
21 games into the season, starters have only averaged FIVE innings a start.
Same 💩pretty much every year, relievers over worked
Rotation has become a bit of a disappointment, Ohtani and Sandoval excepted. Detmers up and down so far, Anderson and Suarez bitter disapointments
No consistency from this team for seemingly forever (at least back to 2015)

TroutField got a reaction from Ace-Of-Diamonds in First 20 are in the books
Rendon, Drury, Lamb, Rengifo, and Ward can start hitting the ball whenever…
offensive depth is shot if this is what we are going to get from these guys this season. Another season of relying on Trout and Ohtani.

TroutField got a reaction from Inside Pitch in Trout to NYPost on Angels keeping Ohtani: “Ultimately, it’s going to come down if we get to the playoffs”
I’m 29 and most of my vivid memories of the angels are of them being a top tier franchise, even getting best professional sports franchise from sports illustrated right around like 2008ish. I probably still have that SI issue stored away somewhere.
I definitely remember not being able to beat the Red Sox year after year… finally overcoming them with that clean sweep and comeback victory in the ALDS felt like magic.
2010 was kind of the end of what stoneman had built and Reagins had sort of started to do the damage of overloading the payroll with bad contracts and not replenishing the farm. Stupid moves like not re-upping Vladdy and Torii Hunter started to leave a bad taste in fans mouths as the losses started to pile up.
It was a super successful franchise that just let it get away. Dipoto came in and did the rest of the damage and ruined whatever farm we had left. Here we are almost 15 years removed from being a great franchise.

What a stupid thing to say.

Sometimes I wonder about Trout. Might the frequent long-lasting injuries be steroid related? Rendon too.

A great man once told me,
"You cannot win without full support of the Administration".
Scioscia did not have support from Dipshito and Eppler.

It's not about MS, so much as the standards he (and Bill Stoneman), helped usher in. He earned his exit, but nothing they have done since has lived up to the standards he had helped establish and the end result has been a constant state of flux.
But it's all good, Arte has unfinished business to take care of.

Just like always

What do they mean they are waiting to see how it feels? Does that mean all the scans came back clean and it’s just a matter of some inflammation and pain?

Last night should of been the Win and winning the series.
You have to win winnable games because sometimes you're going to get kicked in the balls...like today!

TroutField reacted to Reveille1984 in Passan: Shohei Ohtani Could Be Traded, 'Will Definitely' Leave Angels If LA Struggles
Ohtani IMHO just isn't as valuable to us as he is to other actual contenders. We need to either spend huge in FA, or refresh our team with some young talent eventually. Since Arte likely isn't going to support a $300M payroll anytime soon, if guys like O'Hoppe/Neto can become good young players and Adell can become anything, that would go a long ways on top of a package of young, impact talent from an Ohtani trade.
I love Shohei and he's a once in a lifetime player, but we've likely already benefited from his best years and this isn't the NBA. I want to maybe, actually, win baseball games again at some point and become a playoff team again. Strapping ourselves to a half billion contract for a 29 year old probably isn't the first stop towards that goal.

TroutField got a reaction from tomsred in Gameday Thread: Angels @ Yankees (4/19/23): Canning on the mound
Have to salvage a 3-4 road trip tomorrow. 2-5 is really bad
they have not played well at all. sense of urgency, my ass. Poor defense, unclutch hitting, lots of losses in close winnable games.
im venting

TroutField reacted to CaliAngel in Gameday Thread: Angels @ Yankees (4/19/23): Canning on the mound
Pitching does their job, Halos can't hit.
Halos score a bunch of runs, pitching blows it.
A perfect combination for a .500 club...

TroutField reacted to gurn67 in Gameday Thread: Angels @ Yankees (4/18/23) - Suarez on the mound
Keeping Torii for two more years and using the rest of that money on starting pitching would have been so much smarter than having Arte blow (pun intended) his money on Hamilton.
