I hate myself.

I know we really are terrible right now but there are a couple scenarios where everything comes around at the right time and the Angels are really good next year. 
 
the pitching seems pretty good and there’s tons of depth. If we rebuild the bullpen and find some offensive depth, find a starting Shortstop, an OF, and a Catcher we might be in be business.

I hope this is where we are all at, but me personally im struggling to be supportive right now.  Im not a fan of Artes checkbook/balance sheet, im a fan of the club.  He needs to decide once and for all who he wants to be as an owner.

Arte came in talking about taking the LA market, whatever happened to that?  Hes not a fool he had to know what that was going to take... and this is not it.
He started on a path, then right at the point where is started to get real, everything suddenly changed. 

Cohen has had one year in NY and could fuck up the next 20 and Mets fans will never say a word.   Same with other clubs that no one can doubt they made their best effort to win, Padres etc... Being a fan of those clubs right now must feel amazing. 

Seeing our team fail time after time in recent season each time of fully self inflicted wounds, is becoming very hard to swallow.   There is no version of this that we can give Arte the benefit of the doubt, he has 100% put a financial number, or on field performance.  

I might have believed that was the best we could do till the land deal, i think thats what killed my support if im being honest... there is no reality where he could pull that off, and not be able to do more for the team to build a winner... leaving me only one conclusion, he chose this. 

and yeah, im really struggling to support hat right now.  We talk about greedy owner that put the bottom line over payroll, how they are all thats wrong with the game.. well, ours is the thesis for that.  He invest to the point hat he maximized his return, and nothing more.  

Meow, call me whatever you will, but the last few seasons have damaged my fandom to a point i dont even want to admit.

Is it due to his team’s scouting, or due to lack of successful minor league development program, or both? 
He’d bear responsibility for both, of course, but if it was the development program that could be a problem if enough pieces of it are still in place.
It’s why the Marsh trade is kinda intriguing to me - was it Minasian making a fair deal for an equitable value at catcher, or was it the first sign of him no longer buying into Eppler’s farm, and the start of a ‘sale’ involving those prospects. 

I have no idea why anyone here would believe Arte will increase payroll beyond previous levels to acquire talent, or that the talent actually wants to sign with the Angels. Nor should anyone have faith in an Angels GM making wise decisions in free agency.

Not bringing Torii Hunter back because “we didn’t have room in the budget” and then pivoting to drug addict Josh Hamilton was kind of the turning point of the Angels. This is one of those decisions that bothered me at the time and still really bothers me. Hunter could have retired an Angel and had a nice send off, instead he got lied to and had to finish off his career in Detroit.

The lack of depth was quite evident at the beginning of the year.
they put all their eggs in the Marsh and Adell basket and it blew up in their faces. 

Makes you appreciate how solid Simmons was when he was here.
Even more so, you think back to how spoiled we were once upon a time... when people here used to bitch about Howie and Aybar.
It's crazy how we haven't had everyday position players, outside of Trout, in years. The handful we've had have either been hurt a lot, or sucked. 
There's an underrated element to solid everyday major leaguers who put up say a 2 WAR every year. Where they aren't going to make an all star team, but aren't going to kill your team, either. And you can just pencil them in and leave them be.

I just added it up for the halos.  About 1100 of the 4000 PA they've had this season have come from someone claimed off waivers or someone who ended up on waivers, or someone who they picked up as a minor league FA at some point in the season.  The pitching hasn't been as bad.  Only about 150 ip of the 950 by similar criteria.   Which probably explains why we're 10th in SP WAR.  I wonder if anyone predicted that our SP depth would be ok this year and that our lineup would struggle.  Never mind.  
I have become a broken record.  
I just keep wondering how a major league general manager could have thoughtfully put his team in this position.  When the directive was to win.  

Just needs a bit more time to get adjusted to America and all. Understanding jail broke amazon sticks, fish tacos, and Uber eats. Once he's comfortable with those he's major league ready right now.

Why does it still bother you? They've been rubbish for quite a while now, it's not like it's a surprise.

Yeah... haven't thought about that in years. Good example.
And who knows.... but conventional wisdom says we would have signed him long term, given Vlad his much needed partner, and avoided Pujols down the road...

As far as hype goes, MO was up there with Pujols at the time. He was our first bona-fide big name FA in years. Felt like good times ahead.
