I wonder if they'll even bother doing this again next year? I know MLB.com and the MLB Network were pushing it hard, but I never really got the sense that fans were that excited by it. You see a lot of these guys in regular spring training games, anyway, so it didn't seem that special to me. 🤷‍♂️

It was kinda dumb in all honestly for the exact reason you stated.

Im sure it’s an attempt to get a little more hype for a spring game but really nobody cared any more for it.

  2. It could be the Angels were working on a deal with Snell, Boras and co weren’t sold on the offer and wanted to wait a few more days and now the Astros are jumping in. Making it a little more complicated.

these types of things move fast, especially with injuries. I don’t think stradling ever said Snell was 100% going to be an Angel. He mentioned it could get done and they were working on a deal. The angels have missed out on Carl Crawford, Mark Texiera, and Adrian Beltre off the top of my head when we all thought we had deals done with those guys.

Nothing is official until they sign their name on the contract

Also, lol at Washington talking about Adams:

"He’s got a little baby body,” Washington said of Adams, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. “He’s not a man yet. I told him that. He’s still got some shoulders to get. He’s still got some chest to get. He’s still got some legs to get. And he’s still got some knowledge he’s got to pick up. When all that comes together, he’s gonna be dangerous.”

I laughed at that as well lol that’s crazy to say about a grown man 😂

    I legit love Ron Washington.

I’m with you. At first I wasn’t so sure about the hire and I legit hated Ron from all those years in Texas with Kinsler and Napoli. I hated those Texas teams lol

but now I’m pumped every time I hear a little clip of him talking. The man knows how to fire you up, I was pretty down on The Angels a few months ago but somehow Ron has me pretty pumped up for the season.

I missed the first two innings.  From looking at the box score, it looks like Sandoval is struggling.  Is he just doing his inconsistent thing today, losing command, etc.?

    5 base runners through 2 1/3 with 3 walks.

just being the Patrick Sandoval we all know and hate. Doesn’t trust his stuff and nibbles around the corner, over thinks every pitch, and tries to be too fine. Thats why I made the CJ Wilson joke earlier in the thread.

Because owning an MLB franchise is a cash cow. Regardless of increased salaries and operating costs, the billionaires that own these franchises have largely seen the value of their investment increase at minimum 10 fold in the last 20 years.

It doesn't matter if Arte fields a winner or loser. He was insanely rich before he bought the team and now he's even more insanely rich.

This might just be my perception, but I think Arte legitimately enjoys baseball and wants to win. But he does not enjoy paying for things that aren't right in front of his face, like Spring complex tunnels and labs, minor league living situations, international scouts. He likes spending his money on hitters to stack his lineup. He doesn't trust pitchers.

He's a very competitive, flawed owner.

I think he’s just over it at this point. He took over the team when it was at its peak and never continued to invest in it. It lasted another 7-8 years until the cracks really started to show.

he tried to win by investing in players and realized it wasn’t working. It seems now like he just doesn’t care to win and is just holding onto it until he really needs to sell. It would be fine if he just hired some smart baseball people to handle all these types of decisions, but somewhere along the way he decided to stop spending.

no reason there shouldn’t be a stadium deal lined up, even Anaheim has said they are open to negotiations.
