He is a soft-toss lefty whom the Rangers know very well. He tended to fair much better in Seattle against Texas before. At best he could give a decent 6 inning QS. At worst he gets shelled.
I don't get why Ranger homers come to Halos message boards, but whatever. Vargas should be fine, I think he will blossom as an Angel.

Isn't it kind of regrettable? Sure, he pitched very well for us while he was here but we missed the playoffs both years he was here, and having Tyler Skaggs and Patrick Corbin right now would be a major plus.

Jesus, we are turning into Yankees fans. You guys sound like spoiled, whiney, never satisfied Yankee fans.

Has this not been discussed once or twice?

Lol @ people who think Anaheim has a marine layer.
Wicked in SF knows what I'm talkin bout.
Not sure what you're talking about but you can see the ball not carrying well at night in Anaheim due to the marine layer. Also, when you sit through a night game you can see the marine layer pretty easily.

Weaver: The usual, an ideal ace
Wilson: If he would trust his d_mn stuff and stop nibbling, he would be a true #2.
Vargas: A solid #4 and a decent #3
Blanton: Based on past, he's Blantana and will allow 35 HRs. Based on ST, "maybe" a solid #4?
Hanson: Will he even make say 25 starts, with his recent health history?
Madson: Maybe ready by May 1, but how long to round into form?
Frieri: Struggling with the newly added pitch in ST, will he ever find enough command?
Jepsen: Will 2nd half of 2012 be like 2nd half of 2009, a fluke? Or is he finally here to stay?
Burnett: Can he stay healthy?
Richards: Can he find any kind of consistency in the pen?
Williams: Solid utility pitcher, when on; when not on, not very good.
This pitching staff has a TON of question marks!
You can go through any team's staff and nitpick and look at the negatives in every player.

For the Angels, the issue isn't the amount. It's losing the second round pick. We already lost our first round pick signing Hamilton. For a system that is struggling on farm talent and depth, we need those picks or face a continually increasingly spiraling salary.
We are becoming more and more like the Yankees. Yankee Pre 2000 built via the farm. Now, just an old expensive team that is constantly getting hurt. That is the future we are building ourselves towards.
How do you figure? We have a lot of players that are young. We have a nice mix of players in different stages of their careers. The future is bright with Bourjos, Trumbo, Trout, Richards. And with good guys in the low minors. AA now has Cowart, Cron, Lindsey, Witherspoon, and Maronde and a couple decent arms on their way up.

I had plantar faciitis a few years back. Can be erg very painful, at first I thought it was a bone chip in my foot because whenever I would step down it would feel like I was being stabbed in the heel, the doctors said its because the flat shoes I wore all the time (vans) with no support. They get you on a stretching routine to stretch out te muscles in your foot. Also had a few cortisone shots into my foot. It's really painful but I don't see why Pujols couldn't play through it if they treat it right.

The Farm is pretty deep when you look at the lower levels, its just pure garbage in AA and AAA right now so it looks bad at the surface. The next couple years we will have the lower level guys advance and hopefully have a few more good drafts from Ric Wilson and we will be at the top again.

So is there going to be a news story about every one of our players either being over/under weight or hurt? This has been a discouraging first couple weeks of Spring training.

Well I would say that a sting ray using its only defense mechanism in the wild on Steve Erwin when he voluntarily seam with them knowing the potential dangers and a repeated drunk driver that's 3 times the legal limit running a red light and taking 2 lives and severely injuring another person and affecting thousands of people are two completely different scenarios. Overreact much?
