The starters yesterday were in for 7 innings, their replacements were lucky to get one plate appearance. Last season most of the starters were off the field by the third inning this early in Spring Training. Washington is making these guys put in the work.

I’ve gone to spring training a few times and it seems like the starters are on vacation in Arizona. Pop in for a few innings before taking off after the 3rd or 4th for some Tempe shenanigans.

Hopefully this new approach shows everyone a different sense of urgency to be ready for the season.

Oh so when Anthony says baseball isn’t his top priority he is crying, but when you are literally bitching about him you aren’t crying.  Got it.  Also I am defending common sense not a multi millionaire, not that what he makes changes any of this.

Literally bitching? What are you talking about? If we didn’t have discussion about baseball on a baseball discussion forum this website wouldn’t even exist, strad.

Notice how you and like 2 other people are the only ones defending Anthony, notice how you argue in almost every single thread with just about every poster?

you can’t handle differing opinions without personal attacks and it’s kinda sad

He never cried. You don’t like him so you view him as complaining. It’s childish on your part.

I don’t like or dislike him. He makes a fool of himself and I think it’s funny.

it’s childish for you to argue on a message board with everyone that doesn’t agree with you, it’s almost like there are multiple opinions and yours isn’t always right hahaha

No more like an honest attempt to understand what has actually happened that could explain his words/behavior.

And the “entitled millionaire” comment is just weird.  Just sounds like unhealthy money envy to me.

Hahahah yeah that’s what it is. Has nothing to do with him crying about doing a job he is paid $35 million a year to do because he wants to spend time with his family 😂😂

my point is if it’s too much, retire.

Not everything has to be one-sided.

Lots of things said about Rendon have been fair to say.

But it is also fair to say that being a guy on a Hall of Fame trajectory and then just crushed by a sudden inability to stay on the field, along with a very high level of criticism attached to his contract (what do people expect, for him to not accept the guaranteed money?). . . would very likely create a frustration level in most normal people that would result in them saying stuff out of anger, bitterness, irritation, and self-reservation.

I am not asking anybody to love this guy right now or love what he says.  But could we at least feather in a bit of honest perspective?

How would anyone feel if, almost instantly, out of your control, your entire existence in baseball went from celebrated loved HOF-trajectory, World Series hero to “biggest bust of all time” and “payroll cancer” and “fragile p*ssy”?

My guess is that would wear in most normal people and have them get a bit jaded and say stuff that would easily be criticized.

Rendon is a big boy and he will have to deal with it.

But maybe let’s at the very least acknowledge that it probably hasn’t been a fun ride for him and what has happened to him physically would almost certainly cause most people to get pretty prickly.

Yeah, he makes bank.  And that is just so easy to focus on to make him the bad guy.  But unless you think the guy is faking injury or quitting, hating on this guy because of the money he makes is silly.  Baseball contracts are guaranteed.  Thats just the way it is.

I hope he gets healthy and finds a better place to be physically and mentally.

He said some stuff that is annoying.  But I bet lots of normal people would too if their whole career reputation turned on a dime out of their control and they were suddenly characterized as THE epitome of failure.

All that writing to answer your own question.

He will make $35 million this year. If he doesn’t want to deal with it retire and quit crying you have to do your “job”

  6. As has been mentioned, sure it makes sense on personal level to miss your family while you’re at work… Does he not have a home in so cal with his family, dude is acting like he’s deployed in Iraq for 9 months out of the year. In reality he spends, what 9-10 hours a day at the ballpark? Probably arrives at 1-2pm for a 7pm game that’s over at 10…. family is welcome to go to work and watch you for 3-4 hours of that work day, unlike most professions. And you’re being paid an exorbitant amount of money, more money in 1 year than most Americans will se in their lifetime. “Make a living” you’re making 35 million, dummy. You could walk away right now and be set for life, are we supposed to feel bad for you?

you signed the contract, either retire and let someone more deserving and appreciative of the money and roster spot take over, or get on the field and be the best damn baseball player you can…

I don’t not care about my job and the job I’m doing each day because I wanna be at home teaching my kid how to ride a bike. Lazy, entitled mentality to have.
