ScottT got a reaction from Nowani in Season Seat holders 2014 Invoices
It is not a crappy product.    The Houston Astros have been a crappy team lately.   I can see people getting bent over something like that, but I still don't get why you'd avoid the ballpark completely.  The Angels are not the Astros.  They are 140-135 over the last two years.  Relatively speaking, their payroll is high and tickets are affordable.  They are trying to win.  They have the best player in baseball.  They have other homegrown and hometown players that are, allegedly, decent citizens, in addition to being good players.

The stadium is easily accessible.  It is not a historic place where Babe Ruth or Frank Chance played, but it also isn't a dump like those places.  It isn't as great as the fancy new parks, but that is partly why your tickets or so affordable... if you are one that likes to get off your couch and enjoy a sport you supposedly like once every couple years.

I'm a baseball fan.  If the Angels were as bad as the Astros, I'd still go to games.  I enjoyed going to games when the Angels stunk.  It is more fun when they win, of course.  We all go to more games when they are better.  I also enjoy when all the bitchy people leave the stadium during a game like tonight's.

Season tickets are one thing.  No desire to go to a game all year despite being a baseball fan?  Don't get it.

You aren't much of a baseball fan if you don't go to a game for two years.

ScottT got a reaction from m0nkey in Trout on AL leaderboard for every significant offensive stat (Yes, more Troutporn)
FanGraphs' clutch stat had Trout as.. roughly average... last year.  Miguel Cabrera's numbers last year were among the worst in baseball.   This year, he is well above average, I think.  Such a waste.  I don't care to look it up again.

    Clutch is not a skill.

ScottT reacted to YouthofToday in Angels release Ryan Madson
Obviously it is easy to criticize the Madson signing now. Considering how overpaid Closers (with a capital C) are paid by the market I would rather the club explore deals such as Madson.
If Arte doesn't chase another 32+ former MVP candidate perhaps we could explore options that do not entail as much risk.

Yeah. They should focus on basic stats. The ones that were hot in the 1890's.

Might not mean Howie Kendrick is gone.  People seem to think the Angels may move Green to 3B.   SS seems out.

why do people want to trade aybar and kendrick? they're good players with cheap contracts. it would only make sense if they were going into a full rebuilding period and in that case they would need to trade everyone not named trout.

Callaspo is not garbage.  As a major league baseball player, that is.

Horrible?  Doubtful.   Trumbo isn't that good despite his HR totals.  Kennedy isn't bad, despite his current ERA.

If I'm the Diamondbacks, I want Bourjos or Calhoun.  If I'm the Angels, I'm not dealing either, unless the Diamondbacks sweeten the pot somehow.
