halosfan1970 reacted to ettin in Weaver in best shape of his life...sort of
Of course it's his walk year. Time to gut it out through the entire season now.

All men are far from perfect ... Including you and I

He should come out and thank Eppy for introducing him to advanced scouting analytics and note that he wished someone had brought them to his attention sooner.

Think of how different this team looks with just an addition of Jackson and Freese

Escobar is not a big upgrade defensively at 3B and I don't care how long it has been since he played 2B, he will do better than Johnny G at that position.
The reality is having Escobar and Freese in the line-up is much better offensively than Escobar and Johnny G. Add in that you could probably sign Freese for 1/5 right now, it is affordable too.

I just want to jump on the idea of signing Freese for 3B and move Escobar to 2B because I think it is a great idea. Having Freese in the line-up will definitely make the platoon in LF hurt a little less.

halosfan1970 reacted to Second Base in GO GET ALEX GUERRERO.
If I'm absolutely wanting to get a deal done, but am not willing to overpay, just pay the fairest price available, I'd offer the Dodgers Eduardo Paredes for Guerrero and 1 million in salary relief. Arte won't budge on staying under the luxury tax and by most estimates, we're approximately 3-4 million shy of it. We'd get an option that can start at 2B, 3B, LF or DH and would find ourselves right up against the tax.
As for the Dodgers, they're savng 4 million, opening up a roster spot for one of their younger players, and getting a solid young reliever in return that should be ready 2 years from now.
I believe that if Guerrero gets regular AB's, he could hit .275/.330 with around 30 DB and 15 HR. his defense would probably be on par with Giavotella at 2B while his offense would far outweigh Gia's by a considerable amount.
It looks like a win-win situation for both teams.

So you sit up in there just waiting for a buck to walk by, then you shoot it with a bow or rifle? The term "hunting" doesn't seem accurate in this case.

Yes. Several times (same one.) He has a short jewfro going too. It makes for lively dinner conversation all week when there is a sighting.

Sign Fowler for three-years at LF with Gentry as the 4th outfielder. Sign Freese for one-year at 3B and move Escobar to 2B. Sign Clippard for two-years in the bullpen to go with Smith and Street.
Suddenly this team looks much better.

halosfan1970 reacted to Stradling in Kendrick to sign with Dodgers
Yea once again you're watching a different team. Sure he had a bad year of grounding into double plays and yes he chased low and away pitches. But he was a very good player for us for the better part of a decade. He's absolutely under appreciated by a few of you on here. Now I wouldn't waste a draft pick on him at his age, but he would be an upgrade in the field and in the line up, and he's absolutely worth that contract.

Is that how you judge a player's performance... from one at bat? His 495 regular season plate appearances aren't relevant? Enlightening.

halosfan1970 got a reaction from Inside Pitch in Kendrick to sign with Dodgers
I've seen Kendrick strike out on low sliders away for years too. After nine years in the majors, the way that at-bat played out is hardly shocking. However, summing up a player in that one plate appearance is the typical hyperbolic crap that's been flowing on AW.
Maybe some could aspire to a little more analysis and nuance every now and then but I'm not expecting it.
