His success from 2002-2009 has way more to do with who was on the field than who was sitting next to him in the dugout. 
 
In those years, they had a .563 winning % in the 592 games (333 wins) decided by 2 runs or fewer.  2nd best in the majors.  with a pythag of .521 (308 wins).  A +25 difference from where they probably should have been.  Or about 3 wins per year. 
 
In games decided by 3 runs or less, a .561 % in 801 games (449 wins).  2nd best win %.  pythag of .525. 
 
From 2010 to now, our win pct in games decided by 2 runs or less is .508.  Pythag is .507. 
 
To me, this has occurred because we have had shitty bullpens the last few years, but they are being managed as if they are not shitty.  Today's game was the perfect example.  This is a failure of both Dipoto and Scioscia.  Dipoto should know his managers tendencies and give him the pieces he needs to be successful based on his style.  Scioscia should be able to recognize that he doesn't have that same pieces he's had in the past and to stop jamming the square peg in the round hole.  Make a damn adjustment.  If you don't have three interchangeable solid relievers beyond your top two, stop using them as if they are.

I won't rule out Chicago just yet. Despite the Angels and the Kings having been crowned champions in the past, these two teams have taught me never to feel like "it's in the bag."

I agree with what you're saying. Pro gun rights people will run with this story. However the anti-gun lobby will use this for their agenda and maybe rightfully so.
Let's not forget that three people, from what I have read and assuming it's still current, we're stabbed to death. That part will be overshadowed though by those that were shot and killed and I wouldn't be surprised if it was spun to make it seem like all were killed by guns. Both sides are disingenuous and nothing will be solved. In the end, innocent people are dead and it doesn't matter how they died. It sucks just the same.

I keep seeing this type of talk like the Ducks should have been up 3-0 or this series should have been over. The Kings have lost games in this series that they have played well in. Same with the Ducks. We are minutes away froma potential game 7. Just seems to me that these are two evenly matched teams having a great series.

Lol at your reading skills. "All Kings fans"? Did I not just give props to the Ducks and give them credit for playing well? How about lol at you Nate for not recognizing that a really good Kings team sucked it up last night defensively in the second period and a great Ducks team took advantage of it. Of course we get to blame the Kings for last night. They played really well offensively and deserved to win just as much as the Ducks if it wasn't for their defensive collapse. I can give credit to the Ducks for their win while blaming the Kings for their loss.
