  1. the amazingly monikered, bowie kuhn.
  2. hmmm, maybe at the learning annex or, better yet, the big A. i like where your head is at. also, i pretty much agree with inside pitch. dipoto has done a lot for this organization, but we're not seeing the positive results. why that is? i'd have to say culture and coaching, both of which fall onto this coaching staff in it's entirety. i think the vargas and hanson trades were good ones, in the sense they brought back what was absolutely realistic. kendrys was gone after this year and walden was an atomic bomb. i hated the blanton signing without equivocation. one year? horrendous. two years? un****ingbearable. i, definitely, agree the pitching staff is on dipoto and it hasn't worked at all.
  3. it's cool that you think i'm a super fan. i'm sorry that my being right about fans, in general, upsets you. i never said a word about anyone specifically, you included yourself in a general statement about the fans being the worst part about a struggling organization. i believe that to be true. do you think i'm happy with the state of the angels for the last several years? i'm not, and i think/thought scoscia should be fired last year. the difference is i can hold my water. apparently, you can't
  4. great, now we're clamoring to fire dipoto. the only guy i can see on the angels who does his job properly. he's not perfect, i didn't care for the blanton signing at all, but perfection doesn't exist in baseball. the worst thing about a team not meeting any expectations is having to endure the fans.
  5. why does everyone think that maddon would just jump at the chance to manage the angels? he's already a manager, he's already in the AL east and his team has brighter prospects legitimately than the angels.
  6. lol is such a great response to a well made point.
  7. i'm like billy beane, i can't actually watch most games, i have to find out after the fact. mostly because i don't have cable and live in san diego, but also the billy beane thing.
  8. i have zero problem with quentin. he got hit and didn't like it.
  9. i actually saw the game over at my friends house. i thought greinke showed a lot of moxie standing in their and giving a shoulder charge to a dude that is SIGNIFICANTLY bigger than him. i do think he brought it on himself though when he talked some shit to quentin. hitters often times will bluff at the mound a bit on their way to first base after being hit, but when the pitcher talks some shit to you after hitting you? as a baseball player, as a cleanup hitter, as a man....dude, you've got to charge the mound. i give greinke a lot of credit for balls if not brains in this way.
  10. there have been many high profile contracts that have worked out for organizations, but we only remember the ones that don't work out because they are so high profile. it's no different than a gambler who only remembers losing, nevermind all the times he won. it's the nature of risk, which is exactly what a big dollar contract is.
  11. trout said the exact same thing last year.
  12. la russa would be a good choice, but i think he's almost certainly done. torre would be terrible, he is in no way better, and probably worse than scioscia. the angels need to get further into progressive thinking. the times were different, but if the angels had let scioscia leave and promoted maddon to manager everyone would have freaked out, but they'd be in a much better position. i don't like seeing management acquiesce to fans wants, because fans are tempermental and childish. i'd prefer them to make the progressive choice, meaning evaluate the future and be ahead of the curve. i feel that dipoto is the man for that job; i hope that artie is, as well.
  13. i tried and failed to multiquote, but the moral of the story is this: i have no such "rose colored view" of the angels this year. i believe they are still paying the price for the reagins era and have picked them to miss the playoffs this year, which would make them a massive disappointment to many people around the country. i don't even particularly disagree with the OP, as he stated a case with some possible merit. i did say, however, that this place turns into a bunch of nancy boys who want their cake when the regular season starts. any objective person could look at the first page of this forum and see i'm right. if you guys want to pout, knock your socks off, i don't post that much during the regular season because of it, but you can expect me to tell you that you're a sissy. you've either got the moxie for the long haul or you don't. in any case, like what i think or say matters to you guys anyway. i know that and so do you.
  14. this thread is idiotic. you should all be ashamed of your contributions to it.
  15. go look at what his numbers were after that horrific beginning.
  16. so, i take it we lost and now everyone's losing their shit. pretty much sum it up?
  17. in this case, it's not about dollars, but rather air quality. the grant's intended purpose is to reduce emissions by way of reducing cars on the road.
  18. i've had mlb.tv for two years, it's bunk. quality and streaming issues. local teams and all national broadcasts blacked out. i cancelled it this year and lost interest in it last year. totally worthless.
  19. his "i am a homerun pitcher" comment last year was one of the more odd things i've heard from a sport that makes a habit of athletes saying odd things. it seems like, "flyball pitcher" would have been a better phrase to use. i remember ryan howard being asked about the defensive switch utilized against him and he said, "if those outs were hits, i'd be a .300 hitter." i understood what he was saying, but it's idiotic logic. i mean truly stupid.
  20. typical santana right now. konerko bombs it foul, then viciedo crushes it to left.
