So, if Arte knew he wasn't going to re-sign Ohtani, then WTF did he not allow Perry to trade him?

So it sounds like Ohtani's name got caught up in a gambling investigation that the LA Times learned about. They reached out to Ohtani's team for a response, and they threw Ippei under the bus...

I heard an interview with Arte and Lodge (imagine the train wreck that would be) from ST and Arte genuinely thinks he knows a lot about baseball. He was trying to articulate what players are trying to do at ST, and he knows jack. Arte should be giving zero input on players, I'd like to discover if Perry has the goods or not.

Does anyone else feel like it's another take it or leave it offer to Boras from Arte like he did with Adrian Beltre, that he won't budge on the money/years/opt outs and that's why nothing has been done, and I believe nothing will be done here. 
All Arte had to do is match another year with Beltre and the Hall of Famer would have been ours. Just feels like he's going to F up this one with all three of these FA's still on the market (Snell, Monty and JD). 

I think either Canning or Anderson get the opening day start.
personally would love to see Canning, Detmers, Sandy, Silseth and Anderson.
 
I think we should juat let Adell DH and see how he does. have Moniak/hicks alternate. 

He said he was burned out, and that he was having some mental health issues regarding his identity and how baseball intersected that.  Then he quit and went to do charity work in another country. That's a big difference. He then decided to try to come back.

I still believe that the Angels aren't going to sign either of them based on what I was told in December and because I've already turned the page on these guys. 
Hope the Giants load up and add one of the two to compete with the Dodgers and Diamondbacks.
If the Angels sign one of them, I would love it as I always said this team needs a clear #1 ace and I believe it could also open up some possibilities for the BP and for a trade for something else down the road with all of our OF's.
