Dang they're really about to have another 15 game losing streak
-
Not many teams in contention that actually have prospect capital. I'd go to the O's and ask for something like Cowser/Hjerstad/Mayo/Westburg but the reality is you're getting two of those at most and probably some filler.

Ward has hit almost .500 in 20+ ABs against Framber Valdez. None of the other Angels have done much against him--and Ohtani has historically been godawful against him. Curious to see what happens today!
Ohtani will homer twice and the rest of the team will combine for one hit in a 7-2 loss

If we are trading Estevez then we dont care who is closing this year.
It doesn't matter who's closing games when you're not winning many to begin with

There's definitely something weird about him. I'll be surprised if he plays 200 games for the duration of his contract. Hopefully we can find a way to get rid of him before then.
We got fleeced.
Body's breaking down. What's comical is him trying to come back, then getting injured again within a few days, like he's trying to set the season record for IL trips.

I like how we make shit up about players we don’t like.

Any idea what the Angels plan is if they don’t sign Ohtani?
Which high profile hitters are on the market this summer and are over the age of 30?

Being the guy who traded him is a lot better than the guy that let him walk for nothing.
Counterpoint: the Rockies are absolutely known as the team that traded Arenado for complete garbage. If you end up getting a mediocre-at-best haul (which is the likely outcome) you will def be known as the guy that traded Ohtani for pennies during an MVP season
-
Don't think they trade him, and don't think they should. Return you're looking at is likely a guy that profiles as another Canning, plus a guy that profiles as another Rengifo/Ward. I'd rather just watch Ohtani play out his historic season with the Angels (probably the last such season we as Angels fans will get to see for a long long time if Ohtani leaves after the season) than get a couple of fringe starters that are somehow "better than nothing."

Who did you want them to take at 79?
Ronald Acuna? Aaron Judge?
I was hoping for Lebron

Or check this out, they like his bat.
They liked Thaiss and Ward's bats too

MLB Network gave him a Sean Casey (with his 130 career homerun total and 16.5 career WAR total) comp... yup there's a game changer there.
Seems like a low ceiling high floor player that was picked because he can move through the system quickly. Aka they want to show the fans a shiny new toy by early next year to distract from the poor performance

There's a lack of leadership amongst the players. A manager change won't fix that

Every year?
Maybe if we trade for Acuna, Carroll, Yordan Alvarez, Betts, and Robert, we can finally have the depth to not completely collapse by July of every year

You won’t get an argument from me about Scioscia, but no this lineup isn’t better than very many of his line ups.
And even then, they could've had a chance but the pitching gave up 11 runs
-
Thanks to Loup deciding to smoke a cig after catching the grounder from Outman, 4 free runs given up

This year it can be directly attributed to the injuries.
And yet, tonight's lineup is still better than a lot of the lineups we saw under Scioscia
-
Is it me or is the defense a bit too casual in turning double plays? Seems like a lot of very easy plays where they can only get the first out because they take their sweet time.
-
Seems like every year this team falls into a huge rut where they look checked out and defeated from the first pitch. No leadership in the clubhouse
