Sucks to lose Sanchez, but at 17 he had a long, long way to go.

Isn't that exactly what I argued? Wasn't I clear to say my opinions apply to them "as a group?"
I don't think I know any Muslims. If I encountered one, I'd treat him/her the same way I treat the whites, blacks, Mexicans, and Asians I encounter: with respect and with the belief that he or she is a good person. I'd never form a prejudicial opinion of a person based on the characteristics of their group. But as a group, I think the Muslims are pretty ****ing backward.
And as for my screen name, you are probably more offended by it than any Italian actually is.

Arte is the single best thing that has ever happened to the Angels organization, IMO.

The actual estimate for muslim extremists is given at between 6%-10%.  Pew Research has had a difficult time with such a survey, but that is the general intelligence.

And the actual number of muslims in the world is 1.6 billion (not 1.3 billion), with 60% under the age of 30.  So, no, I'm not as concerned with the "rosary toting cartel member" (nice swipe at those extremist, killer Catholics, btw).  And the cellphone worshipper is not trying to kill me because I'm not a like-minded cell phone worshiper.

Not sure I understand how it's a copout when the singular common denominator is that the entire "they" block is mooslim.  Facts are not copouts.  Facts can be inconvenient and not always accommodating especially in matters of war and violence.

And facts are rarely, if ever, forgiving.  I have chosen not to ignore the facts associated with a religion where perhaps only 10% of that religion's believers want me to die for being a non-believer.  What is 10% of 1.3 billion?  The fact is, mathematically, the odds of me dying at the hands of "they" is much greater than me dying at the hands of any other "theys" who are not mooslim.

What I don't understand (particularly with respect to those living in Europe) is why if the Muslims hate the West so much, they don't choose to go live in the Middle East somewhere. It's literally a plane flight away, and they'd be surrounded by people who believe similarly to them.

In-N-Out probably sells somewhere in the neighborhood of 400,000,000 burgers a year. What would their motivation be to make things more difficult on themselves by adding bacon?

It wasn't just justifiable, at the time it seemed like the only plausible thing to do. Even in hindsight Haren was the right call, he was a replacement level pitcher in 2013.

Of course, the moves we made to replace Haren and Santana turned out f'ing terribly. But that's a different argument.

Santana was absolutely horrible in 2012. It took a solid second-half just to get his ERA down to five on the season.
Haren wasn't effective either, though not as bad.
I think it was justifiable to let both go.

Seems like an odd move given the fact that they probably have zero chance/interest in signing Zobrist long-term. But knowing Beane they'll swap him midseason for five more prospects.

Where are you getting the contact rate information from?  Curious to see what those numbers look like.   As far as power goes, 50 of his 130 base hits went for extra bases, he did that in a park that deflates extra base hits.  His ISO was .175, basically the same figure Calhoun produced.  Given the state of AL 3B, a guy capable of legit 15 HR power might be considered a boon.

If guys like Heaney, Tropeano, Baldoquin and Kubitza pan out, the team will have a tremendous amount of financial flexibility going forward.

He has managed to take a farm that was last in baseball to probably somewhere closer to the middle third, while sacrificing only one year of a good second baseman and a backup catcher.
He has acquired a whopping 22 club controlled seasons worth of what appears to be major league competent starting pitching (Skaggs, Santiago, Tropeano and Heaney) for three years worth of a one-dimensional DH and one year of said good second baseman.
He has done an outstanding job. I believe he has taken this team to the point where it is just one or two more young impact players away (Moncado!) from being set up for the long term as well as or better than any team in baseball (including everyone's golden-child organization, the Cardinals). And that is shocking considering that a year ago we were on the fast track to becoming the Phillies or Mets.
