  1. Good point, and why wouldn’t he? If the leant face resistance in Ukraine, why stop there?
  2. @arch stanton And military experts: does Ukraine have any chance of defeating Russia? Can they at least prolong this and make it painful for Russia?
  3. I don’t know that there is a way to manage it so that they fuck up their own lives, but not others’. Like you point out, the problem is the impact the drug use has in non-users. Addicts are like zombies out there, willing to do anything for their next score.
  4. Excellent point. Just like all the people who settle out their sexual harassment cases, get paid a lot of money, then cry about how they are required to keep things confidential (which was obviously an acceptable term of settlement at the time they got paid).
  5. Rosario. We have to get a shortstop, and he would seemingly be a good option. But probably too high a prospect cost. Paddack. But I don’t think the Padres move him, given their staff injury concerns and the fact that they would be selling low on him.
  6. I try not to immediately take the side of the owners, because I know there are good arguments on both sides. But what are the players so concerned about? Good players are making $40 mil a year, and middle relief guys are making more in a year than most people do in a lifetime. Is that really not enough? What I find so hypocritical about the union is that they prioritize free agency dollars over everything else (even though so few of them ever get to free agency). If they are really concerned about the young players, why not focus your negotiation strategy on raising the floor rather than the already high ceiling.
  7. I didn’t realize it was that bad. Yeah, forget about him.
  8. Seems like we have all written off Chris Rodriguez. And for good reason. But he could be a big addition to the pen if he can actually get back on the field. Anyone know when he is expected to return?
  9. I think this is the best approach as well. Don’t think the money is there to do this, but I’d love to see them get a guy like Story, then someone like Greinke, then a McHugh.
  10. I hated the Street trade, but will readily admit I was wrong and it turned out to be a good trade.
  11. Massive injury risk. But I’d love him on the team if he is healthy.
  12. And yet half of America doesn’t care, doesn’t believe it, and/or is willing to excuse it. It’s pathetic.
  13. Iglesias was obviously superb last year. Mayers had a 2.78 ERA (3.29 FIP) after the all-star break. And Loup is a great addition. But they badly need to add at least one more reliable arm, preferably two. Colin McHugh - who can go multiple innings without issue - would be ideal.
  14. These are good points, but as @Dochalopoints out, he was incredibly young for his level. And while he didn’t light up A+, across the two levels combined he seemingly exceeded any reasonable expectations.
  15. Looking at just his stats relative to his age, Kyren Paris stands out as someone who might be incredibly underrated as a prospect. What is the knock on him? He more than held his own as a 19-year old in A and A+. I realize the power potential is minimal, but everything else appears to be advanced. He seems like someone who could breakout in a huge way this year.
  16. If you go back and look at all these signings over the years, it’s shocking how many fail to make it to the bigs. We will be lucky if even one of these guys ever plays a single MLB game.
  17. That’s the unfortunate reality of dieting. If you do it correctly and aggressively, you will be hungry most of the time.
  18. Best of luck to you. And I have mad respect for the work you have been doing and putting yourself at risk. Hopefully this will be nothing for you and you will be feeling normal again real soon.
  19. You gotta exercise dude. It’s not even about the calories you burn from exercising, it’s about how exercise causes you to stay disciplined and make better eating decisions. You are less likely to over eat if you sit down for a meal right after having exercised for an hour.
