  1. I’d have no issue with a vesting option for a third year for Scherzer based on innings pitched. But honestly, if the options are Scherzer at $40mil, or Ray and Iglesias combined at $40mil, I’d take the latter.
  2. Wonder what the cost would be for Castillo and Gray if we took on Moustakas.
  3. If Castillo is likely to sign an extension, I’d have zero objection to parting with a prospect package headlined by Adell or Marsh and another guys in the 2-7 range (though preferably neither Bachman nor Detmers).
  4. Oh fuck that guy. If we sign him, I’ll take @calsto a game so he can have some choice words for him.
  5. Anyone concerned about the health of Scherzer’s arm? His end of season issues have me a bit concerned.
  6. No thanks. I think in order of preference, dollars notwithstanding (but assuming Scherzer isn’t an option due to cost), I’d go: Gausman Stroman Ray Gray Greinke Kluber
  7. You guys have to remember that no free agents are perfect. If they were - and Gerrit Cole is about as close as it gets on the pitching side in recent years - they cost $300 million. Gausman has his question marks, but that is why he is a $120 million dollar player and not a $300 million dollar player.
  8. I have no interest in Rodon, but I am coming around to the idea of Gausman (even though he will cost big money). But I think they really have to snag another arm too, even if it isn’t one of the mid-tier arms. Maybe someone like a Danny Duffy. I think we’d be in good shape if the depth chart went Syndergaard, Ohtani, Gausman, Sandoval, Suarez, Duffy, Canning, Detmers.
  9. They don’t need more than two more starters. If they traded for Gray, they could sign one more and then focus on other needs.
  10. I was actually thinking this too. I think if you could acquire Story and someone like Jon Gray for the same cost as Scherzer, that might be the better way to go.
  11. Good move. The Angels need to add at least five good pitchers, IMO. Preferably six. Syndergaard and Loup make for a good first two additions. Now let’s get another three or four good arms.
  12. Same holds true for the Tigers. They are in a position to sign three of four big names and take a big step forward next year.
  13. I think a lot of teams are going to spend money this off-season. I expect the Dodgers, Angels, Giants, Rangers, Mariners, Red Sox, Tigers, Mets, and maybe Phillies to all spend somewhat big. It’s going to be an exciting off season.
  14. Holy shit, three front office people all showed up to work on a Friday during the busy part of the offseason?
  15. Sign Jon Gray for 4/60, re-sign Raisel for 3/48, and trade for number 3 type starter.
  16. Yeah, my thought exactly. That’s a good thing - shows Perry recognizes just how much help the staff really needs.
  17. This makes too much sense. If ever there was a time to just put all the chips in and hope for the best, money be damned, now is that time.
  18. I hope you are correct. It would be nice to fix the pitching and still have guys like Marsh and Adell and Detmers in the organization.
  19. Adding Verlander would be risky given the uncertainty about Syndergaard’s health. But it is fun to think about what a rotation consisting of a healthy Syndergaard, Verlander and Ohtani could do.
  20. Yeah, in fact, I’d say if it is not a multi year deal, it’s perhaps not such a good move (given the loss of the pick).
  21. I’d much prefer it to be a multi year deal. Give him some massive escalators in the event he actually stays healthy.
