John Taylor got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Shohei Ohtani tears UCL, won't pitch again this season
This is what I was thinking as well. I think the injury increases the chance the Angels re-sign him. Also people complaining that they dont want to pay 30+ mil for a DH tend to forget the fact that he actively brings in money to the org because he's fucking Shohei Ohtani.

I keep waiting for @Lou to pop in here and say... "What did you guys do?"

Haven't read the thread, but I suppose the sliver of silver lining is that this probably increases the chances that Ohtani stays, maybe on a one-year deal. If I were him, that's what I'd do. The Angels might even be able to re-up his current contract, but add a bit more. Say, 1/$35M or 1/$40M. That is, of course, assuming that he can at least hit next year. If he has TJS, I'm guessing he'll miss all of next year pitching, and maybe part as a hitter.

I'm guessing he signs a 2 year deal to reestablish his value. He should do that with the Angels because this organization knows him best and can help him navigate the process he has to go through. His familiarity with this team might be even more important now.

I still find it crazy that Ohtani was willing to play the second game despite most likely knowing his UCL was torn, meanwhile where the fuck is Rendon?

Anyway being an Angels fan since 1986 nothing surprises me with this franchise.

John Taylor reacted to stpat373 in Sad News about Our Brother Lou (iebruin)
My name it's Patrick (known as PJ) to my brother Lou. My family and I have been following this since it was first posted and even created accounts. Most know by now that Lou passed peacefully in his sleep on August 8th at approximately 5pm while The Ocho was on TV (c'mon, you know he loved all sports even the weird ones, like Cricket). He constantly bragged about AngelsWin, all the fun times he had here and the trips to watch The Halos play, home and away with you guys. You all were his extended family and loved every minute he spent on here. To see him spend his last several days reading your posts and thoughts about him brought a smile (and tears) to his face, as it did his brothers and sister. All of us have also been keeping up with this post and you will never know how much we appreciate the love, memories, thoughts and especially the pictures you have shared. Our greatest memory with him was being in the front row at the left field foul pole for the Angels 2002 World Series win. All of us hugging and crying tears of joy at the site we thought we would never see. Close 2nd was Barry Bonds flipping us off during the game because Lou kept leading our entire section in a "sterrrroooooids!" chant while we were jamming a Thunderstick into our arms. Honor him by keeping his memory and stories alive. Celebrate his life. "LouDogg" was a smartass until the end and continued to make us laugh until his last breath.
    Sincerely,
    The Garcia Family

    I am floored.

he, @Lhaloand @Schildog would go on watch soccer matches together.  He was my meat locker compadre.

When I got sober, he was sharing with me that he was trying to sober up.  I had texted with him not long ago.

i last saw him by his job when I was sitting in my car and he walked across the crosswalk on his lunch break.
this is such sad news.  The guy has a really big heart.

I learned from his sister this evening that @Brandon has passed away today.
I have no details of the cause of death. They will know more tomorrow and let me know.
I’m honestly in shock and have no more words to add right now.
Here are some pictures of Brandon at past events and one in which he covered the Angels for us with a media credential at the Big A.

What a gut punch after the hot streak he’s been on. That’s just par for the course for this organization. All we can do is hope that it’s minor.

He invited me into his home, we broke bread, next thing you know I'm at the Riverfloat on his Birthday, Trinity's Graduation party, hanging out at the pool with his family (and other AW folks) in Texas, and now road trippin to TN for her wedding.

I got initiated into the Richter family. 🤌
