Choked me up reading that. Jered's my favorite player and he is a class act, very nice family he has. RIP Nick.

WestistheBest reacted to T.G. in Texas Rangers sign Manny Ramirez
I hate the idea that Manny is getting another chance... but the fact that it is with the Rangers makes it perfect.

WestistheBest reacted to Taylor in Texas Rangers sign Manny Ramirez
This qualifies for the second worst post of the year.

WestistheBest reacted to CaliAngel in Texas Rangers sign Manny Ramirez
Because during his career he has exhibited no class or respect for the game, and yet he has been given chance, after chance, after chance and some of us are sick and tired of seeing someone flip off the entire system time after time to still have to see him swing a bat and participate in Major League Baseball.

WestistheBest reacted to Brent Maguire in Angels Official Website: Pujols finally feels like the Albert of old
You have to love Albert. He's fighting through a tough injury and putting up pretty damn solid numbers. He's not vintage Pujols, nor will he ever get back there, but an offseason surgery would help him be closer to what he did in 2012 next year.

WestistheBest reacted to Vegas Halo Fan in Mariano Rivera - good guy
Well said.
Rivera is probably the greatest closer to ever put on a uniform, and we are about to see the end of a truly dominant career. A guy who just goes out and does his job, doesn't brag, doesn't show up opponents, and has done it with class the whole time. I'm not a fan of his team, but I appreciate the greats of the game no matter who they play for.

WestistheBest reacted to mulwin444 in I wish our team was like the A's
A's record between playoff appearances:
2007: 76 - 86
2008: 75 - 86
2009: 75 - 87
2010: 81 - 81
2011: 74 - 88
Anyone else want to suck for 5 seasons while you collect draft picks, gamble on questionable characters like Milton Bradley, over-the-hill Mike Piazza, Jack Cust, trade young players like Carlos Gonzalez, Gio Gonzalez, and Trevor Cahill and, generally, going year-to-year mixing and matching other team's failed pospects, aging vets seraching for another shot, mid-level MLB talent on a 1-2 year deal, young prospects traded for even younger prospects and high-priced gamble thrown in here or there.
The A's do it out of necessity...is this really what you want?

WestistheBest reacted to Tank in 8 Suspended for Dodgers-DBacks brawl
Unwritten rule is you never throw at a guys head. Hit him in the back or the butt, but the head is off limits.throwing at a guys head ought to warrant longer suspensions.

WestistheBest reacted to Ray McKigney in 8 Suspended for Dodgers-DBacks brawl
Kennedy should have gotten 15 games.

WestistheBest reacted to DowningRules in Gnarly brawl: Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
Wait, what? There's such a thing as an ASSISTANT hitting coach? How the f do you get that gig? I could do that.

WestistheBest reacted to James in Gnarly brawl: Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
Losing the Assistant Hitting Coach may be tough on the DBacks if this goes extra.....
-
WestistheBest reacted to Brent Maguire in Gnarly brawl: Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
Howell and Belisario should be suspended without question. Ward may have said something but he didn't deserve to be punched and almost thrown over the railing.

WestistheBest reacted to Glen in Gnarly brawl: Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
If the Angels got into a brawl...
Howie would hit two people at once.
Aybar would accidentally hit somebody on the Angels.
Scioscia would join the brawl one hit too late.
Iannetta would walk to the brawl.

WestistheBest reacted to HaloMagic in Gnarly brawl: Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
Throwing at someone's head, intentional or not, might earn your teammate a ball in the back. And if you respond to the ball in the back with another pitch at someone's head then you're a punk bitch. There's no need to joggle someone's melon for life just because you have a bad temper.

Question for Scioscia: "What's wrong with your #Dodgers?" Answer: "It's 'my #Angels.' "
I love this answer.

WestistheBest reacted to Jason in Season-turning loss
The season turned last month. The 8 game streak was fun but this team still has a crappy pitching staff and will mis the post season

Maybe as a group, we should figure out which Starbuck's Blanton and Richards goes to.

WestistheBest reacted to Chuck in So pleased with the way the Angels have played lately
I don't even look at the standings or care if the Rangers or teams the Angels are chasing win or lose.
To me, I'm entertained and completely satisfied watching exciting Angels Baseball. If they keep it up, all good things will come together for the good of all Angels fans.
We all expected these types of performances from the Angels out of the gate, but unfortunately it has taken this long for this super talented team to click.
Be that as it may, I don't care about April 1 - mid-May. The past is in my rearview mirror and postseason or not, I'll be satisfied from here on out as a fan if they play up to their abilities for the rest of the season.

WestistheBest reacted to Willy J. in Should Williams be left in the rotation?
Jerome isn't an ace or all-star, but he's a legit major league pitcher who gives his best effort every time out.
It's a pleasure to see that after some of the clowns we've ran out there this year.

WestistheBest reacted to Glen in Should Williams be left in the rotation?
So far this year Williams has been the MVP of the pitching staff. I think he's earned a spot in the rotation.
