GalericX reacted to Inside Pitch in The five reasons why Mike Trout will be an Angel for life.
Your post is a direct rebuttal to what the OP said - you opened with "you're wrong on everything" and where he says "I think" when discussing what Mike Trout might be thinking you basically respond with "No" and proceed to state your opinion as a fact.
To turn around and tell others not to respond to your opinion is laughable.
FWIW -- I think Doc is right in that AP is likely to tell Mike to stay home ...  Ken Griffey Jr has gone on record as saying his Father had told him to stay home, and that no team's fans would ever show him the same level of affection as the team you first come up with.  Reggie Jackson has made similar comments.  Eddie Murray has on several occasions stated his biggest regret was leaving Baltimore.   It's a pretty common sentiment shared by players across many sports.
I won't speak as to what Mike Trout thinks.  I think anyone that speaks for him or claims to know what he's thinking is a complete tool.  What we do know about Mike Trout is that he's not the typical superstar.  He's driven and has an ego, but not driven by his ego -- at least that's the vibe he gives off.  He's clearly devoted to his family and home, that may or may not extend to what he views as his baseball family.  By most accounts, AP and Trout have a good relationship -- to the best of my knowledge Mike hasn't had issues with MS, and he's recently spoken of how much he likes Eppler and how he acts like a GM should.  I have no idea what Mike thinks of Arte, I can't offer an opinion other than I doubt the players question his desire to win.
The Angels best chance to keep him long term is to make him believe they will contend. They need to show they have a plan, and that the plan involves going deep into the postseason.  IMO, they are best served by making Trout believe and cultivating their relationship with him.  Basically, they have a few years to make it as difficult as possible for Mike Trout to leave the only baseball "home" he's had.

Dipoto has a habit of completely abusing whatever farm system he has.  I kind of feel like his motto is "I didn't draft him, so I don't care about him".  He took a depleted farm system and ravaged it into nothingness, and took a nice affordable, contending team, bloated their payroll past it's limits and had one good season to show for it.  Dipoto has shown no ability whatsoever to recognize major league talent when he sees it, which is remarkable given the fact that he himself was a major leaguer.  To wrap that turd sandwich up, he also managed to butt heads with his manager and quit midway through a season.
I don't care how he markets himself, at the end of the day, he failed the Angels and unless he changes his ways, he's going to run the Mariners straight into the ground too.

    seriously.
I still can't believe we didn't sign him.  It was so obvious that it reeks of your previous statement that he thinks he so f'n smart.  I try not to take joy in other peoples failures, but I it's quite nice to see seattle getting the JD treatment.
As IP mentioned previously, it really is unforgivable.  On top that, we wouldn't have had to sit out.
Honestly, JD's handling of the Baldoquin situation almost feels like sabotage.

Profar needs to go to AAA and prove he can hit for more than 100 at bats in any one stretch..
The hype surrounding him was always about what he projected to be based on his age 19 season in AA.  Someone his age doing that well in a league where everyone was 4-5 years older than him seemed primed for super-stardom   Problem is he's not actually progressed at all since then.   The injuries and missed time hurt for sure -- but his game just stopped getting better.  Experience hasn't seen him improve his game and his physical tools today are no better and some might argue are worse today than when he was 20.
He had an absolutely blazing hot month last year but he's failed to hit even .175 since the break last year..  Personally, I don't think the Rangers did him any favors by keeping him on the MLB roster last year after basically missing 2-3 seasons.  He needs to play everyday and actually try to develop his game a little.
One scout I know comps him to Corey Patterson, and not in a positive way, but rather as someone that for all his tools he just never got better.

Sure, he can return in August, but how long will he stay before feeling another twinge or a cramp or some other soreness, and be gone for three more months?

Whoa pump the breaks there. Harper is great but let's see him consistently do what he's doing this year for a few more years before we even consider this a possibility. Trout has been the most consistent player in baseball since 2012. Harper has one amazing year and one amazing month under his belt.

Skaggs/Richards ... same person different name.  More time on DL than eligible.  The question is, once healthy, what will it be next?  can't rely on either, build the team as if they are a prospect and count them as depth.  Whatever you do, do not count on them.  If we manage to get say... 3 months out of either, throw a party.  Problem is, with these two, its never anything small, its always major.  When they get hurt, they really do it.

I don't know if you guys have been watching, but this guy is passionate behind the plate. Fist pumps, head nods & attentive. I mean, he noticed Richards' flicking his arm and ran right out there. I'm guessing Garrett would have kept pitching and could have done more damage to his bicep if he didn't catch that. Moreover, the relationship he has with the pitchers on the mound is like none I have ever seen. The way he sets up and frames pitches and knows where to be and what pitch to call is top notch. I mean, this is all in addition to him having one of the strongest, if not the strongest throwing arm in baseball.
    I'm impressed.
Maldonado, Simmons/Espinosa and Trout up the middle. Is there a better defense alignment in baseball?
Calhoun & Maybin in the corner outfield spots are excellent as well. Color me excited about this team.

GalericX reacted to Docwaukee in Hey, Fletch! How about asking Trout why he chose not to play in the WBC?
why are you splitting hairs about this?  Who cares.  He had the choice to play and he didn't.  There are several other players from the Angels on the international teams.  They made a personal choice as well and the Angels didn't stop them.
If the Halos went to Trout and said 'you are pretty much everything to this franchise and we'd prefer you not play', then I am fine with that.
You seem to be fishing for something that shows how the team stopped him from playing.  You can keep looking if you want.  Hopefully you find peace.

No, but that actually reminds me that 80-90 threads might not work. So I'm changing the requirements.
One Fire Scioscia thread every time:
    1. Starter is left in too long
    2. Bullpen blows a lead
    3. A bunt is called in an inning earlier than the 6th
    4. The ROC play doesn't work
    5. The ROC play works
    6. The lineup is weird
    7. A squeeze play is called, even if it leads to a win
    8. The Angels lose
    9. The Angels win, but almost lost

I think I covered it. This could up the Fire Scioscia thread count to 5-6 times a game, every game.

GalericX reacted to fanfromday1 in Kris Bryant gets pranked (classic!)
Just for an FYI. My great nephew pitches for the UNLV baseball team, and Greg Maddux is the pitching coach for the Rebel baseball team this year. My nephew has told me several times that Maddux has a great sense of humor and is always joking with the players during workouts. Apparently, when Maddux tosses batting practice he treats the rebel team players the same way that he teased Chris Bryant. My nephew has also said that in the four months since school has started he has learned a tremendous amount about pitching from Maddux. And I can't doubt that. How could you not learn something from a HOF pitcher the quality of a Maddux.
UNLV starts their baseball season this weekend at home against Omaha. I plan on being there (if it doesn't get rained out) and my nephew has promised that he would introduce me to Greg Maddux. I'm really looking forward to that.
