  1. No it doesn't. It 'proves' he had a rough april. Moving to CF didn't have anything to do with his bat. Those thst think it did are living in a fantasy. Remember when we laughed at vernons plate allignment comment?.....and at least that had to do with actually holding a bat in his hand.
  2. He's definetely started off w a bang. But lets hold off for a while. Harper started the year on fire too, and was making trout 'look bad'. Lets give it time.
  3. Yes, he does. Could be imaginary, but he definetely looks like he dumped some weight this off season. Could explain things a little.
  4. To be fair, both aybar and trout failed with the winning run on 3rd. Not defending mike, but there was plenty of bed shitting yesterday. Vargas deserves some blame as well.
  5. sure, NL teams don't have the dh. But a lot of the heavy hitting NL teams play in better hitters parks thsn we do.
  6. Inferiority complex? Because he changed the name and signed big names? Moreno is a self made billionaire. He invested money in this team, and has vastly improved its worth (and his bottom line). That's not being insecure, its being a very adept businessman. Bottom line is the front office dropped the ball on several decisions. Players on the field haven't produced. To blame ownership is retarded.
  7. That would be aweaome if Toronto had a fire sale and flipped the same package they got from miami last year. Ned colleti is monitoring the situation.
  8. Good post greg also.I wouldn't say bourjos is our best leadoff guy, but your defense arguments are spot on.
  9. exactly. The last thing on trouts mind when he's in the box is is where he plays defense.Trumbo seems to do fine, and he gets bounced all over the place.
  10. RIP Doc. Seemed like he was with the team forever.
  11. Ill always be a bigger Vladdy fan than Pujols, but to be fair, Pujols does have a phucked up foot. So in his defense, you can't really base it on this year. Trout and bourjos would be a hell of a lot slower if their foot was torn as well.
  12. One thing to keep in mind in failing to trade for cabrerra is that he was also a pending free agent. Yes, detroit ended up locking him up (quickly), but at the time it looked like a very steep price for someone who could walk in a year. Consider how many of us are pissed at corbin and skaggs for haren, or segura for grienke. If Haren was still here and was vintage Haren, we'd be fine with it. If Grienke stayed we'd be good. But if we lost santana, howie and whoever and cabrera left... Hindsight is always 20/20. Cabrera (even back then) was one of those players that you are willing to give up a lot for. But the price and the free agency variable makes it easy to understand why the FO was hesitant. I may be confusing that rumor with someone else, but wasn't there some prelim deal already in place, and the marlins changed their mind and asked for more, and arte got pissed and walked away?
  13. and the angels are worth far more than their own payroll. Juat because a ream has money doesn't mean they aren't worried about payroll. Look no further than NY trying to shed money, and boston sending all of those guys over to the dodgers.
  14. ??? Gonzalez. Crawford. Kemp. Ethier....none of them are spring chickens. Hamilton is maybe 2 years older than each of those guys. Pujols is the only 'old man' we have here. Grienke and cj are about the same age. I like agon a lot, but do you think he's worth the contract he signes, with becket and crawfords money thrown in to get him? Not to mention they haven't locked up kershaw yet (which they will). At that point you're looking at a potential 250 million dollar payroll....for a team that most should have known wasn't very good. I envy their pitching. But their offense is basically the same core that was a ket down in boston, added to a downsloping ethier and a one monster year/5 average to good years kemp. And that offense, sans ramirez, is locked in for another 5 years. They will be very old in about 2-3 years. And whatever money they have above us, they will use towards eating contracts to aquire new pieces. I think you're being over emotional because our team sucks. But the dodgers are in the same spot (for almpst 100 million more).
  15. The difference being of course that since he's been here (for just over a year), he's been trying to assemble a win now team, not a rebuild team. So what youre saying is, why hasnt he just pulled the trigger on flipping Weaver for 2 AA pitchers and a back of the rotation pitcher?
  16. Trout playing CF again has NOTHING to do with it guys. Trout had some adjustments to make, he did, and he's come around. This is the same line of thinking some were saying about him batting second versus leading off.... If this were true, is anyone up for bumping Trout so Hamilton can move back to CF and hit 43 home runs?.......(me neither)
  17. t he was doing well....same as 2011. That's what consistent playing time leads to.Its awesome that you say small sample size after he hits for a month, when all of your opinions are based off of his stats from last april, and a handful of sporatic at bats after. Its cool if you don't want to admit you were wrong. But continuing to bash the guy just to argue with a bunch of strangers on the internet is pretty pointless isn't it?
  18. I wouldn't say the problem the last two years has strictly been chemistry. Like Haren said, it comes down to people doing their job. That said, I do think chemistry is a big part of it. Like any other job, if you aren't a big fan of your co-workers and boss, you're probably not going to be as productive. That doesn't mean you have to love everyone. I agree w whoever pointed out that the team lost while torii was here.that said, torii seemed like one of the few guys who would both look out for his team, but would also have no problem checking them if they got out of line. I think that's missing right now.
  19. agreed on both. Its time for a change, but sosh isn't 'THE' problem this year. Its a combo of a bunch of guys plaging below norms, and everything inconsistant.
  20. well, most of us on here don't use our real names either....I'm sure if YOT was sitting around having a beer w you he wouldn't mind naming people. But on the internet, where the chances of things coming back to bite people is a lot higher, its probably better to remain annonymous.
  21. I understand you're take LT, but truth be told, its none of our business. If someone tells one of us something in confidence, the right thing to do wouldn't be naming them and what they said to the public.
  22. I actually believe at some point pujols might walk away (no time soon). But he's the kind of guy who wants to go down as one of the greatest. If he starts really falling apart (non injury, declining skill), I can see him retiring in order to keep his rate numbers in tact. Like mantle saying hhow much he regretted playing his last year, which broight his career average below .300.
