  1. Puig has been a beadt so far, no doubt. I pulled up his numbers on fangraphs, and compared hin to vlad (reminds me of him). The walk rate has already been mentioned (and I think will be a telling sign in the future). The main thing (to me) is his babip. That and his out of zone swings. His babip is over .500...that's not going to last. Hes making contact and driving the ball, but its gonna be interesting to see if he's able to adjust (patience) whwn the hits stop falling. Whoever mentioned cespedes above makes a good point.
  2. Screw the surgeon general. Dipping is GOOD for you.
  3. This. I completely agree. I've been saying since last year that trout reminds me of pittsburg bonds. I doubt he ever turns into an equal power threat (juice), but he's the same 30/30 guy bonds was. I like the henderson comps, but I think bonds is closer. For now though, I prefer him leading off. He is our best bet to get on base, and I'd like to maximize his at bats.
  4. ^^^^^^^^^^^ ..........................flawless execution. Especially with kobe looking up at the comment.
  5. According to the movie, its good role players that play alongside an MVP and a runner up (Tejada and Chavez), along with a ridiculous starting 3 rotation and bullpen. But the good role players are the reason for the wins. (according to the movie)
  6. who knows if wood was ever really cut out for it. That said, I've always wondered if its in the minors where we screw up (oppossed to simply pointing the finger at the front office)
  7. the dodgers say hi, and are sending a friend request on instagram.
  8. So what you're saying is, weavers 85 million contract might get some booty? I agree.
  9. I don't think the team is in financial trouble (funny as it sounds). The nedia deal hasn't even kicked in yet. If it did today, the fox money alone covers our payroll. The trouble were in is the players we need (younger and improving) are on other teams and can't be bought (right now).
  10. if we only had nick punto, we could get the dodgers to take them.
  11. to be fair, more than a chunk of dipotos players are artes property. And yes, some of reagins guys are doing well. Then there's wells.....see what I did there? The longer someone is away the better they look. Remember reagins (though arte probably had a big role) thought beltre was too expensive....but wells would be worth it...and naps should be included to get him....and reaaaaaaaaally wanted carl crawford...and got takahashi...and kazmir.... etc etc Dipoto isn't perfect, but he came around right when the bubble was going to burst. Most teams peak and then quietly rebuild. We screwed up not rebuilding right after we peaked, when it wouldn't have stood out as much. And dipoto was asked to fix holes in the foundation with drywall and really expensive marble that was old.
  12. any list that includes braun and fielder, along with joyce parra and pence screams sample size.A few of those names (loney? Lol) are flukes. The others are either superstars or in the making ones (freeman goldschmidt). To pull those names out and say trumbo is average because these guys are better is beyond weak (if that's what you're suggesting).
  13. I'm not suggestinf trading him LT (at this point). But I've been thinking about who he would be a hood fit for, and I think washington maybe. Maybe oakland (doubt it would happen). Pittsburg if they believe in themselves enough for now. He would be a good trade chip.....I'm not totally against it. But he's got more value than this thread wants to believe.
  14. scott, you can argue he's not a 'star'. But to say he's not good is stretching it huge. Hes had an average 3 weeks (except dor power). He's a power hitter....they do that.Is he tradeable? Sure. But the reason he is is because he's good. Hes gonna be average at getting on base. With his power, that's fine. And you're ignoring his 3 year trends. Hes still only 27 and improving. AJ said it best.
  15. that's the best part, IMO. It was his biggest weakness, and he made huge strides to improve. His walk rates have gone up 3 years, and his K rates have declined for 3. If he cann maintain the OBP with his power, he's gonna see a few more all star games. I just hope the hamilton/pujols money doesn't get in the way of signing him long term.
  16. disagree ed. Sosh has no problem sitting guys....if they aren't vets. Its old tenured guys that get to do whatever and still play.
  17. then for what? Only a trout trade would bring back what we need to win today, and that's not gonna happen. This team needs to get younger and more affordable.
  18. Agreed with Mark. Its not that we want to trade producers just to dump salary. And Its important to be a fan of the team other than a fan of individuals. I already mentioned tex, mark mentioned beltran. You can either buy through FA, draft well.....or trade. Were already expensive, and I'm unaware of any pending stud FA's. Our drafts have been poor the last few years. What's left (to improve this team)?
  19. I mostly gree with this. That said (and I'm not suggesting this), trading howie (or trumbo), getting back a handful of guys that can priduce in 2-3 years while spending money on a replavement isn't so much worse of an idea than holding on to these guys, gambling on our shit drafts the last few years (in 2-3 years) and having to spend money on someone other than a cano.
  20. boom.Remember when trout made the same catch last year, same batter, same park, same spot. And some people on here were saying bourjos wouldn't have caught that. Good times.
