  1. He is one of the few tradeable guys we have. Still under club control, lock to hit 30 a year (more in a hitters park), under 30. I could see getting a decent return for that. That being said.....I dont think you can trade him. He and trout will be the two guys that pull the weight of the aging pujols and hamilton over the next several years.
  2. Youre pointing anger in the wrong direction. Moreno has done exactly what any good owner has done. He's repeatedly opened his wallet in an attempt to improve the team. Some of the moves havent paid off. Thats not on the owner. Its on the FO and the field personnel. As far as your complaints in this post, I have only been to three games this year, but I saw Moreno at 2 of them. Maybe they werent the days you were there. What other owner does that routinely? As far as the beer prices....have you been to any other sports venue? Or entertainment in general? According to espn, last year the angels were 5th among all major teams in concession prices (not 5th highest, 5th best). http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/teamrankings/_/category/aff#table Its 2013. Youre going to a major sports venue to watch a team with a payroll in the top 8......if you think youre gonna score 5 dollar beers youre dreaming. You couldnt get 5 dollar beers at a major sports bar, let alone a stadium. And the angels as a whole were ranked 23rd in affordability overall (all sports), with the 9th lowest ticket prices in baseball...... Everyone is pissed because of this start. We all are. But Arte isnt the problem. And as bad as we are right now, I can next to guarantee the money issues will not be near as big of a deal going forward as some are worrying about. The only real worry going forward is the organizational depth.
  3. Probably a knife instead of a shoe.
  4. Well put. This would have been the post of the entire thread, but you failed to include any thoughts on dominican koreans. SO its an A- instead of A+.
  5. Meh, youre not alone. Half of this board would have killed their first born to sign crawford a few years back, thought napoli for wells was good, and torii was done after the first half of 2011. Im sure some will go back to hating trumbo as soon as he hits a bad 2 weeks and morales has a good series anyway.
  6. well here's my take, Ed. I LOVE trout in CF. Hes a stud. But Bourjos is a sensation in CF. He reminds me of devon white. Gary Pettis. Guys like that.Trout made some outstanding plays out there last year. But its speculative whether bourjoa would have or wouldn't have done the same. IMO, while both are about even in going back on the ball, bourjos takes the better routes going left and right, and coming in. Throw in the better arm, and bourjoa edges trout out. Just my two cents. But I think everyone needs to be careful judging any player on highlight reel plays. They're really fun to watch, but sometimes the 'boring' guys are making the same catches...but because they position themselves better, and maybe are more economical in their route/movememt, it appears routine. So there is no need to dive...
  7. Trumbo is definetely on a tear. Glad he was finally moved up to cleanup. To be honest, in the short term, wouldn't mind him batting 3rd. No knock on albert, but right now trumbo is gonna scare pitchers a lot more. Maybe that helps trout get back to normal.
  8. ........that was a marketing thing, not a field thing. Regardless of the shit play on the field, the feam is worth vastly more money than it was a decade ago.Morenos business abilities have been rock solid. Its the on field product that has failed.
  9. besides pujols and hamiltton, what lobg term contracts are killing us? Cj? I guess. He hasn't been 'bad', just not plus. Weaver and aybar have been hurt, and howie is the same as always.Keep in mind torii's contract was similar to hamilton (age/length). Torii still hustled. (Although when he had a bad half in 2011, a lot of people on here couldn't stand him). I agree certain guys (on this team and others) lose their fire after payday. I don't think hamilton is one of them (and I'm not a hamilton fan). Pujols definetely isn't one of them. Right now is the photo negative of a team fully clicking, when some guys play over their heads. Right now we have a full team not clicking, with guys playing far below where they should be.
  10. Been meaning to post something similar. You could also add jay bruce. Votto definetely isn't votto just yet. Billy butler is mediocre. Prince fielder has been pujols for the last two weeks, etc. Posey is human. Flip side, guys like dexter fowler, carl crawford, wells and arencebia are on fire. I doubt anyone wanted to keep wells. No one would have traded trout for fowler, or crawford, etc.
  11. Its obviously a small sample size, but yeah, some on here need to give the kid some credit. He won't be a star hitter, but he's definetely a lot bettet than some were ever going to give him credit for.
  12. boomGood point. Also whoever pointed out Oakland up above. Its ugly, but there's still lots of time to right the ship. Off topic slightly, but so far washington and cinc are suprisingly 'average'. And so far I've been totally wrong about NY and Bos (wow), but spot on with Toronto. They could turn it around too, but I really didn't buy the hype that taking a group of guys who weren't on fire from one team, taking them to another, and somehow expecting different results.... (like the dodgers)
  13. Seriously. Sosh is very stubborn. And I still think he caters way too much to vets. Hamilton will be fine. That said, right now its steve finley deja vu. 'He was good last year, so we'll keep his sub .200 bat in the cleanup spot until it comes around. Its only july after all....' A guy like pujols (last year) I could see crying about being moved. Hamilton doenst strike me as that type. So I have no clue why sosh would hesitate to make that move. He sat bourjos all last year after a bad 3 weeks. Platooned trumbo last april when he was on fire.booted aybar from leadoff after a bad month (though trout had a lot to do w aybar and bourjos). Etc etc. But he's unwilling to move vets..
  14. Yep. Our pitching and hitters are collectively playing below norms. Is it just a funk? Most likely. Except with young players, most guys will even out one way or another over a full season. I still say weaver/aybar is a bigger deal than most realize. In the immediate short term, hamilton HAS to be moved down in the order. He not only is killing rallies in front of him, but trumbo being the current best hitter is also paying the price.
  15. well, its not like the offense has exactly been doing its part either.
  16. I was ok with letting haren go (who I loved) because he supposedly was hurt. I wanted to keep santana (who I wasn't for or against) because I thought he looked good in the second half and is still young (ish). It really sucks to see him doing well, but I think the team as a whole (front office, management) was ready to move on because santana was always a headcase.
  17. no, it would be to lazy to answer the phone.'The phone was out of my reach. Was I supposed to dive for it?'
  18. Great post. We can all debate the points of it, but good to see someone post something not overly emotional one way of the other. And kudos for the keanu reeves quote. There needs to be more of those on here.
