I think a full spring training and a full season next year will provide a better judgement on Eppler and the scouting staff.
I prefer to believe that some of the young starters, like C. Rod and Detmers, will be contributing next season.   

Sandoval was great today, even though the team lost.  Maddon said earlier that Sandoval would be pitching out of the pen.  
After today's outing, I am starting to think that is a great idea. 

The way Rojas can swing the bat, it is absolutely amazing to me that there is not room for him on this team as a reserve corner INF or OF.  
He could even be used as a DH.  Oh, wait, we have Albert.  Never mind.

I think this is a start where he is being shown to other teams.  I can't see him as anything more than a 7-8 option, meaning he's behind Bundy, Canning, Sandoval, C. Rodriguez, Heaney,  Ohtani,  Detmers.  
It is possible that he may be part of a package headed out before the deadline.

I already miss Tommy LaStella.  I was happy when we got him, because I suspected he'd get a chance to play.  He's a glue guy, a gamer.  Someone any winning team needs.  
Hopefully, we will  attempt to bring him back over the winter, as a utility infielder/outfielder, once we get the infield pieces sorted out.  

Arte also killed the Stripling-Pederson/Rengifo trade, which would have added another starting option to the pile of mediocrity we have now. 

If he files for free agency, we need Bauer.  And a couple more.  If Cleveland moves Clevenger and Plesac, we could use both of them as well.  
The starting pitching is not fun to watch.  They get mugged every single night. 

Letting Nolan Ryan leave after the 1979 season was the absolute worst move in the history of the franchise.  No, Buzzie Bavasi, you couldn't replace him with two 8-7 pitchers, and for those of us who became fans in the 70's, there will be none better than Nolan Ryan.

I think if they did broadcast them, I would watch, too.

The injury to Canning is very unfortunate.  We all know this.  But, this is also why we haven't traded away Sandoval, Suarez,  and Barria.  One of those, along with Andriesse and J.C. Ramirez, who looked pretty good yesterday, BTW, will be expected to step up and fill what is now the number 5 or 6 spot in the rotation.
We may also be watching the waiver wire toward the end of spring training to see what is available.  And, that deal with the Dodgers could be revisited, if Mr. Moreno and Mr. Eppler feel that it could strengthen the club.

Also, the Dodgers have two players in camp, the afore mentioned Joc and Stripling, that know that they were dealt crosstown.

I like it because it gives the lineup balance, and we were short of left handed power.  I would rather see Pederson out there instead of Goodwin.

Jeter.  Because it is Jeter, Walker will come up just short.  Its a shame, too, because if Edgar is in, and Harold Baines is in, then Walker should definitely be in.  
And, since that box is now open, how come no love for Don Baylor?  As a DH, a clubhouse leader, an MVP, he was incredible.

I am looking forward to a full season from Canning and Sandoval.  If we can get that, all arguments about pitching would be moot.
