  1. Best arm available not named Hunter Green! (Greene) Pun intended.
  2. Returns to health for Richards, Shoemaker, Skaggs, and Cron make this a much more potent team. A repeat season from Simmons and slight upticks from Calhoun and Espinoza, and we're a plus .500 club. I think that this is a good team that just had a bad year, with the notable exception of Mike Trout.
  3. If this team gets a full season of health from the starting pitching, it will be a good team. I'd like to see another top starter developed or brought in, and I'd really rather see Marte at 3B over Escobar. Also, Bedrosian pitches the ninth, no matter what.
  4. What we really need is another top tier starting pitcher. Since none of those are currently available, we should stay as far under the cap as possible, see what the June draft brings, and wait for the trade deadline, perhaps some of these big spenders will end up being big sellers.
  5. I would like to see if he could do what Simmons did last year, and raise the batting average. If Espinoza can hit .250 with 15 HR, its a steal of a deal.
  6. This is why I hope Jansen is our primary target. If the Angels add Jansen, the starters would basically only need to go 5 innings. Morin/Alvarez in the 6th Street in the 7th Bedrosian in the 8th Jansen in the 9th. Game over, drive home safely!
  7. Our farm system is not good, so we'll trade our number 3 prospect for a 2B? IMO, Ward is like Thaiss, he should move quickly, and he's worth more to us than a marginal 2B prospect. As mentioned above, we could sign Aybar on a make-good contract for about a million dollars, slide him over to 2B, and keep the prospects.
  8. I hope we hold off, just to see if anyone worthwhile is non-tendered. No way does Nova get 5 years from us.
  9. Plouffe elected free agency. He will probably get a comparable deal to the one he left in Minnesota. I'd much rather claim and stash Nathan Eovaldi, who the Yankees are trying to outright off of their 40-man. I know that Eovaldi had TJ in August, so it would be high risk, high reward for 2017.
  10. How would either of Hernandez or Dozier play in our park? Philadelphia is a hitters park, don't know about Minnesota. Of the two, I'd have more interest in Hernandez, mostly due to the high OBP. Dozier has appeal for the HR power, but his low BA and high K numbers probably wouldn't be of interest to Eppler.
  11. I don't think the Twins would be looking to trade Mauer. I think they would be very interested in finding a taker for Phil Hughes. If we could get Dozier and Hughes for one of Shoemaker/Skaggs, and maybe a lower level prospect, I would be tempted.
  12. I like it. Leaves us some flexibility for a bigger piece. Jansen, I hope. I hope we don't overpay for an aging Neil Walker, perhaps Philly will move on Cesar Hernandez now that they have Kendrick. As for the reserve OF spot, how about a Peter Bourjos reunion? He played a lot of RF with Philadelphia, so he has experience in all three OF spots, and should come cheaply enough.
  13. If we can pick up another power arm along the lines of J. C. Ramirez, I would be very pleased with that.
  14. I would like it very much if we could bring Howie back, especially if we could get the Dodgers to take back a couple mil of what he is owed.
  15. I would make an offer for Jason Hammel. I know he's only a mid-rotation guy, but I think he'd be a good fit with Richards, Shoe, Skaggs, Nolasco, and Meyer. Also, solid depth in case someone is injured.
  16. If we spend on anything, I hope it's Kenley Jansen. A bullpen of Street (7th), Bedrosian (8th), and Jansen (9th) would take a lot of pressure off of our recovering starters.
  17. Charles O. Finley and the designated runner. Anyone remember Herb Washington? Actually, it may be a good idea to revisit the designated runner.
  18. And speaking of Speedy Petey, isn't he a FA this winter? Certainly a better option than Buss/Ortega/Whoever?
  19. I wonder what Josh Reddick would cost?
  20. If the Angels plan to offer Weaver a contract, the most they can cut him is 20 percent. Even if his contract is at 17 mil (AAV of 5/85) it means that he could be cut to 13.4 million dollars on a one year deal. Is he worth that? And would the Angels offer it? Probably not on both counts.
  21. I hope Albert invests in some for next season. I've had plantar fasciitis in both feet, and the Superfeet inserts really help!
  22. Richards, Skaggs, Shoemaker, Meyer, and Nolasco would be a decent rotation, if Richards is healthy. I wouldn't mind it at all if Eppler could bring in a couple more power arms that are capable of being major league caliber starting pitchers. Only thing is, we don't have a lot of tradeable assets.
  23. If Shoemaker is traded, we'd immediately need an arm to slot into his rotation spot. Probably not a good idea, especially since we'll also be replacing Weaver, Wilson and Richards next season.
