  1. The only way I can see us dealing the beard is if we get 2 nearly ML ready SP in return, similar to the Santiago-Skaggs deal, and I just can't see anyone giving up that much.
  2. Grew up with Dick Enberg on TV and radio. Those weekend spring training games from Palm Springs.
  3. I think we should sell as high as possible on Escobar, and the sooner the better. Not because he can't play, but because the return stands to be a lot better than the initial investment.
  4. I think Marsh will sign on the last day to do so, or somewhere in the July 13-15th range. The Angels have about 1.2 million available for that slot, right? Marsh would not be using good business sense to turn down that kind of money, as it is very unlikely his draft stock improves that much.
  5. I think Perez will be the one sent down.
  6. If we trade him, I hope we can receive at least one pitcher with a power arm, preferably someone who can start. Double A level, at least.
  7. Doc, you really don't think that Cron would be one of the first ones to be dealt away if we became sellers? Our starting pitching, save for Shoe, has been awful, and Cron, because of his potential as a power hitter, may be one of the few Angels that could net the team a decent return. Factor in that Marte is playing well in his place, and Cowart is hitting well again in the minors, and I could see Cron being dealt away, mostly out of necessity.
  8. We have a Cron sighting! Maybe one of the last for him in an Angels uni?
  9. Since he started featuring the split, he looks like a different pitcher. He could get us two high level prospects or draft choices if traded.
  10. This kid will want first round money. The system needs big arms like this, in a big way. Will Arte pay 1st round money to a 13th round draft?
  11. Was a little confused with the Thaiss pick, until the talking heads mentioned moving him from behind the plate. If he can transition to a corner OF spot, or 1b-3b, its a great pick.
  12. Why does Lincecum have to be guaranteed a rotation spot? He's been mediocre at best the last 4 years in a pitcher's park in the NL. Unless he's lighting it up in the minors and/or he's really showing the scouts something to work with, then I don't really get it. Also, Angels scouts. Lolllll Because the opportunity to start was probably the only reason he signed here in the first place. Trading Santiago probably makes the most sense, but with both Weaver and Wilson leaving after this season, they'll probably hold on to him, and option Tropeano.
  13. Santiago. He can either re-establish himself as a starter from the pen, or he can stay down there, since Mahle has options. Or, we could trade him for a prospect, preferably a hard throwing right hander that has potential as a starter.
  14. Is he better than Robinson? Probably. Better than Gentry? Probably. Can't hurt to take a look.
  15. We are watching Hank Aaron with speed. Mantle from the right side. Mays at his peak. Mike Trout is a one of a kind talent.
  16. I think he's sticking around solely to hit HR's. I know he could help the team a lot more by just swinging for contact, and letting the HR's come on their own, but someone else with a different idea obviously has his ear.
  17. Where? Escobar has been good, except with his glove, and Johnny G is warming up after a very slow start. Short, maybe?
  18. Not at all worried. I saw Jett Bandy play in High A here at IE, and he didn't hit much here, either.
  19. Bedrosian has better stuff. Time to see what he has, if he's closer material.
  20. I would like to see Mike Trout spend 18 seasons more with us. Logically, the odds of that happening are low. Just an example, but to get close to equal value from a team like the Dodgers, I imagine talks would have to start with Urias, Seager, Puig, and Trayce Thompson.
  21. If it were my draft, I would grab as many power arms as I could, with emphasis on guys that can start, and throw 93-95 or better. College pitchers would be a plus, since their development time is generally shorter.
  22. The ultimate compliment. And if anyone should know, after more than 60 seasons watching the game, it would be Vin Scully.
