  1. They originally chose a site west of the Strip off Tropicana where the Wild Wild West casino once sat. That would be far better than a Strip location, which Fisher seems to be obsessed with.
  2. To be honest, I had rather have an expansion team than the A's. Team ownership has been like the Keystone Kops in the way that they have handled this. Even the location that they are insisting on would worsen Strip traffic, and it is too small for the stadium design that has been proposed. I'm pretty certain that they are going to blow this. Even our mayor has said that they need to talk to Oakland.
  3. I see it as being on the commissioner. He knew for a while that their TV deal was ending, and all that he could come up with was a streaming deal with Apple TV. At that point, it was over.
  4. I'll see what I can do. Maybe my nephew can scare some up.
  5. The people who voted "very confident" in the team's direction need to be drug tested.
  6. I have a sizable bag of them, bought from the bulk foods section at WinCo.
  7. For the uninitiated, Publix is a grocery chain located mainly in Florida. My nephew works for them. They may or may not sell this:
  8. The Guardians have good young pitching and a desperate need for outfielders.
  9. Possibly the best Super Bowl ever. As an added bonus, I don't have to listen to obnoxious Niner fan family members brag for the next year.
  10. A college friend went to high school with him in Mount Holly, NJ.
  11. Same thing that A's fans are saying to Fisher: Sell the team. The A's may still blow the move.
  12. TBS was a huge deal in the south, and it was how I got heavily hooked on the Braves, even when the teams were bad. Before TBS and the proliferation of cable, we would get occasional Braves games at different times, usually on the independent stations.
  13. Tom Lasorda in spring training with the Kansas City Athletics, 1956.
  14. A story on the three remaining members of the Never Miss a Super Bowl Club. They have attended every Super Bowl since the first one in 1967. They will be at Allegiant Stadium tomorrow. https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/football/super-bowl/meet-the-3-octogenarians-who-have-never-missed-a-super-bowl-2997804/?fbclid=IwAR2oXRDDVpjVh4JqQ00D2l55irZWWww6zk078NXoopx7L0IOZRyTOkaHvyw
  15. Locally, the Golden Knights are televising all of their games on a local independent station. All that I need is an HD antenna. BTW - I am finally kicking DirecTV to the curb and going streaming at the end of this month. Their response when I called them was to offer a package for $80 per month that lacked three of the channels that I told them that we watch regularly. I haven't decided what service or services to go to yet.
  16. Maybe, but apparently what the Mets did went far beyond what most clubs do.
  17. Another thing about the 1960s: All World Series games were day games, so both my fourth grade (1964, Cardinals-Yankees) and fifth grade (1965, Dodgers-Twins) teachers brought in a television from the A/V department so that we could watch the games in class.
  18. The 1960s. It was when I first became acquainted with the game. Players were heroes and seemed larger than life. Seeing a game on television was a rare treat, because we only got one game per week. Salaries were more in line with the general public, and players didn't constantly jump from team to team chasing money.
