  1. I also notice that Ohtani's legal team says that this matter was turned over "to the authorities", but no law enforcement agency that would possibly have jurisdiction in the matter has received any complaint. My guess is that nobody is investigating this at all, because Ohtani's hands would be found to be all over it if it were thoroughly investigated.
  2. I'm not buying for an instant that Ippei took $4.5M out of Shohei's bank account without him knowing. In order for that to happen: 1. Ohtani would have had to set up his account so that Ippei was an authorized user, which makes no sense. 2. Alternately, Ippei would have had to somehow get the password for Ohtani's online account. Even presuming that this happened, most banks will alert the account holder through text and/or email of any large transactions involving his or her account. I also can't buy that Ippei took out $500K nine or ten times without Ohtani's knowledge. Possibly after the first transfer and definitely after the second one, the bank would have directly called Ohtani and said hey, we have noticed very large transactions on your account. Were they yours? Knowing how banks work, those funds would not have been released without direct approval from Ohtani.
  3. It went into hiding a bit when Ron DeSantis and his nonsensical culture war exited the presidential race. I have to chuckle when I see someone throw out the label Marxist. Odds are that the person using it equates socialism with communism, and makes no distinction between the two. Ironic that it is Republicans who throw it around, while their would-be king can't keep his hand out of Vladimir Putin's pants.
  4. I doubt that he was. The trade should have happened. Maybe he would have wound up extending wherever he was sent, somewhere other than the Dodgers.
  5. I just want to know how every team within 500 miles got to claim Las Vegas as a home market.
  6. I haven't heard. I just dropped DirecTV, so with it goes the Angels broadcasts, as well as the Dodgers, Giants, A's, Padres and D-Backs.
  7. Which would be great news if I wasn't in a six team blackout area.
  8. Which was a totally different situation than Rose, who was banned because of bets that he himself placed. My point is that if you let Rose in, Jackson should go in also. If they want to put that on their plaques, fine.
  9. Ted Turner used to pay big money to players who he personally liked, with the belief that it would cause them to produce more. The Braves were generally terrible, wasting the most productive years of Dale Murphy (who I firmly believe would be in the HOF if he wasn't continually being pitched around because of a lack of talent around him). He turned things over to his baseball people and quit meddling. Within four years they won the first of 14 consecutive division titles.
  10. Just like Shoeless Joe Jackson should be in the Hall. His production in the 1919 World Series was not that of a guy who was deliberately tanking.
  11. Dude, you're combining two soap operas. As The World Turns goes back to the 1960s. My grandmother used to watch it. The line you are looking for is "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives." Yes, I was subjected to too much daytime television back in the day.
  12. How would an interpreter get his hands directly on the cash from Ohtani's paycheck to divert it in the first place? I assume that he gets a paycheck just like everyone else who provides a service. I can't imagine how this is even possible. Something just seems really off here.
  13. Florida is back in finally, but their center broke his leg early in the first half of the SEC title game. Their stay is likely to be a short one.
  14. Darryl Dawkins came to the University of Florida on a (no-chance) recruiting visit while I was there. He attended one of our games.
  15. Not sure what the end game is in Pittsburgh, signing Wilson and then trading for Fields. The Raiders signed Gardner Minshew. I was hoping that they would trade for Fields - especially seeing how little that it took for Pittsburgh to swing a deal.
  16. I saw a YouTube interview of multiple Trump supporters this past week. Several of them said that they are willing to sacrifice democracy for a dictatorship if he is reelected.
  17. I was getting the St. Louis radio feed early in the game. The announcers said that the Blues were playing the second game of the ninth of ten back-to-backs today. Their last comes on a west coast road swing at San Jose and Anaheim in April.
