This season made me reconsider my position on a shorter season in general.   They won't ever go back to 154 games because of money reasons but they could come down from 162 games and I wouldn't mind.   As far as the WS goes -- first one I've watched every game of in a long ass time, in large part because they haven't had as many off day's during the post-season..   Maybe that's what I have liked (again) and not so much a shorter season. 

The ending the other night was an all timer, it's been a fun WS.

It’s been an entertaining season. I don’t believe the season or the post season should have any sort of asterisk, unless some sort of new cheating scandal emerges.  The two teams with the best records made the World Series. They came out of the gates and won the most games. They were teams everyone expected to be contenders.  They were teams that won 95 plus games last year, so it isn’t some fluke. I too think the league could go to a shorter season, but I’m thinking 150 or so. 

This season has been a blast. Every game mattered more. I think baseball can take a lesson from this for the future. I wouldn’t mind a shorter condensed version of the regular season to say 100 games and more teams in the playoffs. I’d prefer longer series in the playoffs to all 7 games series. But I enjoyed this season.

It has actually been a decent WS, with some great moments. Game 5 was a bore, but 4 was epic, and the others had moments. In the end, it comes down the baseball: is it good, fun to watch? To be honest, I'd take a WS game of any two teams over watching the Angels in the regular season, because of the inherent tension of the WS: every batter, pitch, moment counts. The players are focused and involved. I love every Trout home run, but would much rather see Manny Margot trying to steal home in the WS than yet another Trout dinger in the 8th inning of a 10-1 blowout.

I have never wanted the World Series to be over more than I want this one to be over.
1). it doesn’t seem like a “real” World Series because this whole season seemed like a joke in the first place.
2). I can’t root for the Dodgers, and I can’t root for a team with uniforms that bad to win either.
3). The Angels can’t get a GM hired until this thing is over.
Put us out of our misery and get this thing over with already.
 

You know what's a real kick in the throat for their fans??? They had Mike Rizzo there from day one of the franchise until 2006 when they gave Byrnes the job over him.  Rizzo went to DC, the Nationals haven't looked back.

There was, but the Atlanta one was Stewart...   They sent Dansby Swanson a year after taking him first overall plus Ender Enciarte for Shelby Miller who absolutely tanked.  
Kevin Towers also made his Upton and Chris Young for Nick Ahmed, Martin Prado, Randall Delgado and Brandon Drury deal with Atlanta.

Ahh now I am more confused. They've had so many terrible GMs. 
Also I think the one I am remembering is the Atlanta one. So you were right with Stewart. Now I don't remember what Byrnes haha. Either way I think being GM of the Diamondbacks should exclude you from being GM again. 

Fair enough, he just more closely resembled the person you described as having signed/traded a bunch of guys.  But Byrnes was the guy who made the really big three team trade that had Max Scherzer and Ian Kennedy in it, so maybe that's what you meant and I misunderstood.    The only other guy would have been Kevin Towers.

I don't know if it were me I'd stay away from a guy on his 3rd try at this job when he's failed two times before it. Maybe that's just me though. I would hard pass on Byrnes. But I could see Arte doing it. 

he got fired from both the dbacks and padres.  
he hasn't done much when he's been the lead guy.  
maybe being under Friedman for the last few years has helped him.  Maybe not.  A lot of people assume he'll be like Friedman.  
I read a couple articles with quotes from both teams that fired him (both of who got trashed in the press a bit for doing so) and there were remarks about leadership in both cases.  Maybe I'm reading into what is probably just normal crap teams say when they fire a guy, but teams have not performed well while he was the GM or President.  

If you guys love the Dodgers so much, maybe you should marry them.

Why do you say that? I hope Eppler has a good career in front of him. It didn't work out here in Anaheim for whatever reason. I hope the Angels make the right move on the next hire or two.

Wait what? I honestly don’t care for the Dodgers. They’re not in the same division as the Angels they don’t play the Angels but a couple times a year. If they win whatever. Good for them. I hope they win this year and the Angels win the one after that. I don’t understand your thinking what so ever.

what?  I would totally throw the dogs a bone if it meant the halos winning more than one over the next 5-7 years.  Especially this one.  

I'm rooting for the Dogs so I can tell all my dog fan friends that a championship this year doesn't really count.

just for clarification.  but the point is that they both spent a lot of money and didn't do a very good job of such.  Eppler absolutely had the ability to spend so I agree it's not apples and oranges.  
another point of clarification is that JD had control over 4 years worth of teams.  Not 3.  2012-2015.  It devolved because you made an inaccurate statement but to question Scotty's premise was fair.  Any gm in the past or going forward is going to be able to spend relative to payroll limits.  
Your comment also brought up an important issue that you like to ignore and that's what each GM had to work with upon their entry point.  You can't look at stuff like this in a vacuum.  It matters.  It matter what they were left with as to how they proceed.  

Good to see you so willing to engage and hear others out dude.. so, Props.   The forum has been a good read lately, not a lot of the sort of crap you talking about... just people debating, discussing, and sharing their opinions minus the petty BS.    It makes for a better experience for all of us.
