I think Montgomery is waiting on the Rangers to blink. Same with Bellinger and the Cubs. Snell is a bit of a wild card. He seems to have priced himself out of the market. Unless he gets more reasonable with his number, he may well go well into spring training, or beyond.

I think the less exciting bullpen signings (Garcia/Cimber/Cisnero/Kolarek/Plesac) are meant to insulate prospect arms from being pushed too quickly. Guys like Joyce and Bachman likely wouldn’t have earned call ups if it weren’t for a lack of organizational depth and the desperation mode we were in thx to Shohei’s presence. If Joyce can get to consistently throwing strikes and start making some back to back appearances he will earn the callup. Bachman likely going to be SP exclusively. Cisnero looks like move that’s healthy for the org

With a reliever who's about to turn 35, I'm gonna give a lot more weight to his most recent season, especially since it's essentially tied with the most innings he's ever pitched in a major league season before.
He seems like just another guy.

It is probably painting with too broad a brush but I saw something recently that teams are just not as willing as they once were to sign "DH only" guys...the Angels, supposedly, would like to keep DH open for Trout and Rendon....I guess there are pros and cons to it but I'd rather sign somebody with positional flexibility....

He's a 22-year-old kid with 11 games in low-A, so I don't think he's going to be making any kind of impact any time soon.  He's a total wild card.  But like @Second Base said earlier, he's exactly the type of guy you target when you're trying to clear 40-man space.

I'm tired of seeing players come to the Angels after spending their most productive years in another organization. The list is long...
Can Votto actually mentor enough of the young players to turn them into better players?  Just because he helped one guy (that we know of) doesn't mean he can help others.  Maybe he can.  Maybe he can't.  But do the Angels really want to use a roster spot to find out?  I'm guessing J.D. Martinez could have a similar impact and he's more likely to have a productive season.  Not that I even want the Angels to sign JDM.
There isn't a magic bullet that's going to transform this organization.
The Angels need to find a more permanent solution for developing their own players.
