In terms of waiver wire projects this is as promising as it gets.
^^^This^^^ Guy is still young (25) and has a decent arm. Not much risk involved in giving him a shot...I suspect other teams were interested but 40 man and 26 man rosters have to be managed and, with no options, not every team could give him a chance.

I don't follow the farm as closely as most of you but does this guy have a chance as a back end of the rotation type of starter?

He may be a snarky jerk but he's not wrong...

Time maybe to see if one of these two has the makings of a closer. They couldn't be less reliable than what we have now in that spot. They both seem cool under pressure, unlike Estevez who seems to pitch as if he is in distress or something.
Very typical for RP’s, hard to project. Hope they can keep it up….If we’re out of contention in July, you deal them. If we are (miraculously) in contention, you ride with them.

Could just throw Ben Joyce into the fire to sink or swim.
Or you just give Moore or García a shot.
I think it’s likely that you see closer by committee, if Estévez keeps crapping the bed.

He is what he is. Not good. Not bad. Mediocre.
He was good the first half last year. He has been terrible since. I’m not sure that is mediocre. That is wildly inconsistent.

Only Kenta Maeda has a higher ERA among MLB starting pitchers. Canning is making his mark.
We don’t exactly have a long line of replacements ready to step in.

Pretty good numbers in 18/19…not much since…

This time of year we all get a little nutty around here, as we approach the Trade Deadline.
The reality is that the Angels are only going to move guys on expiring contracts, in all likelihood. If there are younger guys with years of control they are very likely going to keep them and build a base to take the additional steps needed to contend in the future. They have open payroll space, so they don't HAVE to move anyone. But I am sure if they get blown away by an offer on one of their guys that would be considered for the overall health of the team long term, but do we really have anyone that teams are going to be salivating over at the deadline?
I don't know about salivating over but if Anderson keeps it up, or is close to what he's done so far, he will have a market in July. A capable starting pitcher, if you want to move one, will always have a market in July. That said, if the offers aren't terribly enticing, you can always keep him and hope he can keep it up in 2025 (or trade him in the offseason or at next year's trade deadline).

Probably a younger Ehire.
Looking at his stats and profile, I thought the same thing. As injuries start to pile up, we are probably going to see these types of trades. We just don't have any depth, a testament to the inactivity in the offseason. I just hope we don't overpay for these type of guys, like we did with Cron, Moose and Grichuk last year. Pillar was one thing, he was a freebee but we don't need to drain the farm for these type of guys.

Any word on Pillar bobblehead night?
If he keeps it up, he’ll be a trade chip in July….

One team to stay away from is Atlanta. Minasian still seems to have some past loyalties. We got screwed royally on the Iglesias deal and giving away Herget and getting nothing but cash is mind boggling. He had some past success and could have been a throw-in as part of a package.
Still not sure what the Fletcher/Stassi for White trade was all about...moving Fletcher and Stassi for White, who is hurt (I guess) didn't seem to help us any....dead money all the way around and I'm not sure we benefited much financially, if any....

Which teams do you think are looking for pitching in the first week of May? You can talk trade all you want but there has to be a motivated buyer.
Probably not many....but I was surprised that the Pads would go after Arraez this early and they really didn't have a glaring need for an INF'er (although he may end up being more of a DH).....

Rengifo also could be traded and why wait until July? Many teams need BP help and some need OF help. With right offer I trade Detmers and Sandoval.
The only way you would make a trade now and not wait would be if you think a player won't sustain early success. That might include Anderson but you run the risk of pulling the trigger too early if he keeps pitching well. if his ERA is still under 3.00 in July, he'd be a very attractive trade candidate.

Rengifo forgot how many outs there were and didn't throw the ball to first to complete a double play. Dumbass.
I’m not sure you can fix his boneheadedness, if that’s a word.

You have to wonder if he’ll mostly DH when he gets back.

Adell can still make a bone headed play but he looks like a Big League OF’er now…seems to have some confidence that hasn’t been there before.

I don’t remember Calhoun looking like the Pillsbury Dough Boy….
