You guys are probably aware of this but Adam’s audio is basically unlistenable.  

Very sad.  But for real.  I could understand probably 5% or less of what he was saying.  That’s not an exaggeration.  It’s literally that rough.

"Long game" implies that there is some sort of plan or strategy. I'm not really seeing it.

i don't think they're going to care too much about the long game until the avg. game attendance is hovering around 10-12k per night. 
when you look at the minors, the scouting, and the other associated parts of what is supposed to build up the franchise and keep it stocked for years, it's clear there is no overall team vision. 

I really doubt the people in charge of this org are embracing the long game.  
my guess is that they're looking for ways to be able to claim they're competitive again.  
a quick to the majors pitcher, 3bman or OFer in the draft.  trade some expiring assets at the deadline for guys who are close to the bigs.  advance more guys through the minors at an overly aggressive pace.   spend big money on a multi year deal for a guy in his 30's next off season OR don't spend hardly at all and completely ignore a pool of players on short term deals where spending might net you more org currency.

When Theo Epstein joined the Cubs, he told the fans to be patient and that they we're going to rebuild.  I can respect that kind of transparency.  We're definitely not seeing that here.

Normally I think this is true. 
I live in NH. Born and raised. Could easily be a Red Sox fan, Pats fan, Celtics fan, Bruins fan. Hell, I'd be pretty happy! 
Except fuck those teams. I hate them. Red Sox and Patriots especially.
My dad was raised in SoCal, moving from Ventura/Oxnard around to San Diego. He listened to Angels games on the radio back in the heyday. His dad was an Angels fan...I think through connections to Gene Autrey, though I have no evidence of that. That curse was passed on to my brother. And then to me. 
The Rams are my football team. They were in LA until '95. Again, my dad's team. The move to St. Louis didn't matter because we lived in NH.
LA Kings are my hockey team. Etc...

Usually you do long toss up to maybe 180 feet before you get on the mound. 
 
Then the first bullpen session might be just fastballs. Then one with everything. Then an up-down session (with a break to simulate innings). Then you’d do live BP or a sim game (which are very similar). You could do that twice. Then you can pitch in a game. How many games you’d pitch depends if you’re a starter or reliever. 

None of that means HOU didn’t effectively tank, scout, draft, and develop well. They also should have been punished more severely for cheating in the end-of-season tournament. Both things can be true.
