I think it's pretty clear that the only prescription for all our troubles right now is more Cowgill.

The lack of respect some of you guys show to players like Weaver is mind boggling. How can you seriously enjoy a game when you have no attachment to players? I'm not ripping on you guys, I just don't understand. Players don't always perform, that is a fact. Pitchers occasionally struggle, especially coming off of injury. But lets go to the worst case scenario with Weaver, and that would be his arm is toast, and he will never be nearly as effective as he was. How do you just rip the guy? It certainly isn't his fault that his arm doesn't do what it once did. I am sure he would rather still be dominant. Sadly, in baseball, this kind of thing happens. But even sadder is that we have fans that will now only see him as an over the hill over paid athlete, if he is indeed past his prime.

That's because most of the Angels fans probably hadn't heard of Jim Edmonds.  He was before 2002.  The year our "fan base" quadrupled.  I hate to say it, but--just because the Angels have more fans than the average major league franchise, it doesn't mean that those fans have a very high baseball IQ.  Some of the conversations I hear at the ballpark are unbelievably idiotic.  Half the crowd at Angel Stadium cries for the starting pitcher to be taken out if he gives up two runs in the first inning.  Nobody has any clue about bullpen management.  I tried to explain to someone once that a sinker baller usually takes an inning or so to find his groove.  The guy looked at me like I'd asked him to solve the riddle of the Sphinx.        

The fact Arte watched (was he there in Fenway?) that botched squeeze play, and his 100 win juggernaut flame out, and responded with a 10 year extension shows a great deal to me.

Roth is a soft tossing lefty. Thank goodness we aren't facing him.

Goodnight Sweet Prince...

Trumbo is our Mauer. The one guy who was born and raised in our backyard as a true Halo fan from birth. Nothing would pain me more as an Angels fan than seeing him not have a long and fruitful career. I hope he becomes a Tim Salmon, and not a Russell Branyon. The speed of the ball off his bat is a thing of beauty. My favorite current Halo by far. And his actually likes real organic guitar based music (not that I am a Thrice fan, but they are uber talented). I love Trout, but Trumbo is the one I get most excited about. Trumbo is already playing for his dream team.
