The 2023 Angels bullpen is going to take about 3 years off of my life.

Nice play Drury
Now just put up an 8 run inning here and I will feel confident about the bullpen closing this one out.

You could replace those names with anyone in the Angels bullpen and I would agree…

Clearly there's a "payroll" issue here. Those guys are getting a lot of money, so they're going to pitch. A lot.
I'll wait to be proven wrong.
Payroll issue for sure…
The fact that they are still on the Angels payroll is the issue.

I think Tony’s mistake was grabbing the guy. Should have just called him over and yelled at him/got up in his face or whatever. That way he doesn’t let that guy punk him but also avoids fine/suspension/police “investigation” etc.
Why is this team always such a mess? All this crap going on and we are only 1 game into the season? I guess it’s not all that surprising for Arte’s Angels.

Worst part for me (besides losing to a minor league team) was getting excited about the 2023 season and seeing pretty much the same thing I saw last year: good starting pitching, Loup/Tepera sucking and an offense that seems like it should be much better than it is.
it’s just 1 game but it’s frustrating because a lot of the names changed but the result didn’t. -
Wow…imagine how bad they are going to get beat when they have to start playing against major league teams.

Loup and Tepera worked so well last year might as well go with them again in ‘23.
Bring up Joyce and some other new blood. Even if they suck at least it will be entertaining and Nevin won’t be calling on guys who are proven losers.

The 2023 opening day offense looks just like the 2022 offense. Hopefully we won’t also get the 2022 Loup tonight.
That’s on me I guess
is anyone even remotely surprised right now?

Don’t know if anyone answered this yet but Ohtani is calling his own pitches with the PitchCom under his jersey. Most guys have it on their non throwing arm/wrist but he memorized the board so he doesn’t have to look at it.
Nevin said he has so many pitches that he would run out of time shaking off pitches so he’s calling his own.
Nice no look catch there in right by Trout 2.0. Better to be lucky than good.

What is the Oakland athletics reserve team. What is this ?
also, it’s amazing to have a major league team run out a starting 9 like the A’s are. These people who are responsible for that club do not deserve to own a major league team. They aren’t serious about it. Very sad.
True. They have to lose at least 90 games right? That is a terrible roster (now watch the Angels lose 3 of 4 this weekend because I said that)
Hoping for a healthy season for the Halos. If they avoid the injury bug then they will be in the playoff hunt all season.
-
Will they have the buffet this year in the Diamond Club?
(Only sitting there for one game because my wife’s never sat there before)

How’s it looking for getting the game in?
Chuck where is our live weather report?

Re-sign Ohtani, trade for Soto and sign Judge as a FA.
I just fixed the offense for only a billion or so dollars. Spend around 50 million more to shore up the pitching and they might contend for the third WC spot next year.Come on Arte, pay up!

Soto knows what it's like to play for a shitshow franchise, too.
True but he already has a ring. I think that this franchise is so bad that they might have a chance of selling their “vision” better to an outsider than to a player who knows how they really run this team. If they feel they can’t sign Shohei then I think it’s worth a shot to try and get something for him and Soto’s the best available. Anyone who wants to win isn’t signing with the Angels that’s for sure.

How can you be more confident in Soto signing when he has already turned $440M from Washington?
I think we'd have a much smaller chance of signing him than Ohtani.
I think signing Soto would be easier if they offered him the huge contract. Shohei has already been a part of this shit show and sees Trout/Rendon missing games every year and a poorly run franchise. In my opinion if they gave Soto huge $ he would take it. Not so sure Shohei would.

When did he say anything of the sort?
He didn’t but this article makes it sound like at the minimum he’s in no hurry to re-sign with the Angels. To rephrase my question would you trade him for Soto rather than risk losing him? They could also lose Soto but I think Soto signs for the right money but Shohei will want $ and some belief that he is playing for a contender.
-
Sounds like Shohei probably isn’t re-signing with the Angels so Shohei for Soto - would you do it? Keeping in mind either one is going to cost you a fortune and at least you get a great young player in return.

Trout needs to rest and get his body right for the World Baseball Classic in March.
No one can say that he’s given up or know where he’s at mentally but I think there is little argument against saying he is becoming injury prone. They need to tell him he’s moving to a corner spot next year to try and help him stay healthy as much as they can. It’s not his choice.
-
WBC is next March so will Trout’s back be OK by then?
We Angels fans have to be really happy about this. He can’t play a full season any more but he’s signing up for more baseball. I’m as patriotic as anyone but this guy does not need to be playing any extra games.
But we will all love it if he gets to hit against Ohtani so theres that I guess.
-
Really high leg kick so it will be interesting to see if they tone that down.
is he already penciled in at SS for Friday’s game vs the Braves?

It’s been quite the week for Trout talk…
We have read… he is injury prone, doesn’t respect the game, his skills are diminishing, he isn’t engaged or motivated and he should be traded.
Heck of a week.
Some of these things are true or at least very likely. He is becoming injury prone for sure and he may not be the player he once was. Hard to believe he will get back to where he was after these injuries start piling up.
I was a trade Trout guy before they extended him and still think they should have taken a shot at it but I can see why they could have never done that. The Angels fan base would have killed them and stopped showing up for games.

Drury and Renfroe are so far doing a great job of replacing Mayfield and Gosselins bats in the line up…
