  1. I'm a big fan of Joe Lacob. Seeing that he grew up here makes it more special, however he did acknowledge that buying in NorCal makes better sense. I hope he buys the Angels, but i'll keep my mind open for others as well. Just have a feeling that he has interest but isn't 100% sure on it. No matter what, if ANY new owner presents the funds to win, helps grow a great front office and provides the support needed to win then i'll be happy. Despite him having a crazy daughter or not.
  2. The rumors of the Angels looking to acquire shortstop help, a starting pitcher and bullpen help seem like something to be written before the offseason starts. If it's even slightly true I wonder about the "to what extent" part. Are we talking about Profar/Cueto and a cheap bullpen arm? Or Lopez/Hoerner and Chafin.....
  3. Matty mentions the Angels should get Wacha. Last time Matty said Angels should get Drury and they did. Just a thought
  4. I wouldn't say elite, but i'd definitely agree with have a deep rotation with options. Canning, to me, is a write-off. It's been a ling time since he's been reliable and he's a huge injury risk. Minasian's 2021 draft will strongly help with depth this year. Bachman, Bush, Murphy, Silseth and Torres could provide help in some form.
  5. The dude was born in South Africa.... His parents fled during WW2. It's not like the guy is fresh from Wuhan China.....
  6. Also, we need some sales news. get this damn deal done already so I can go to Spring Training knowing Arte is gone.
  7. I think Patrick would be fun. When the Dodgers went up for sale he teamed up with Steven Cohen to try and buy them. I'd imagine they have the same thoughts on what to do to build a winner. Could be a Mets vs Angels financial battle to win.
  8. Contrary to the big signings they have never worked, so no, I don't think it's the only way. But I will say this, given their lack of player development, the Angels are in one spot to make them win and it's by spending. To me, their tax payroll should be around $250M. They have enough stars (Trout, Rendon, Ohtani) to build around, but they need to be extremely deep in every other area to give them that cushion. Minasian is on the right track, but their limited payroll increases over the years has been extremely underwhelming for what this team needed to do to win.
  9. Weather the payroll is at $205M or $95M it doesn't matter what you spend, but matters if you're in the playoffs. The team that spent $95M last year made the playoffs. Angels are still looking like a 3rd place team so weather they spend or not is becoming irrelevant to me. They've been spending with no success.
  10. Not even worth looking at it. Every team will listen on everyone..... Perry probably takes calls on Trout and Ohtani, laughs at the GM, then confirm their tee time after a good chuckle.
  11. I remember talking with @Jeff Fletcher a few years back about transactions and he mentioned that finding outfield corner depth is fairly easy to replace (within reason). Not sure if this applies here, but seems like it would. If I were to guess it would have to be Ward, Bush and another guy for Pablo Lopez.
  12. Saying they can keep spending has us shooting for the starts, when it could really mean a contract worth $1M-$2M
  13. Good point, saying how things truly look can offend a lot of people.
  14. If they trade for a good outfield bat then i'd place them with us in the standings. Mariners are ahead of us.
  15. Understanding health is a concern, but the Rangers' pitching depth is stupid deep. They're in a good position to trade for someone like Reynolds or another outfield top bat. To me, the Rangers can sneak up quick on the Angels if they get another bat/bullpen arm
  16. Eovaldi to the Angels would be great. Though I don't buy the Hendricks rumors. I'd be okay with them giving Estevez the chance to close. Heyman reported that 3 teams have been in contact with the Correa camp after the Mets deal ran into issues. I'd imagine Yankees are one of the teams but I wonder if the Angels would have interest on a shorter term deal? Don't get the feeling that 10+ years will work for Correa.
  17. Perry deciding to take the quantity over quality approach for SS is.... concerning. Still hoping there's a trade in the works. Sure, we're deeper than we were, but we're still a 3rd place team. And isn't Minasian supposed to build a winner to keep Ohtani?
  18. Hopefully there's more on the way. This team can't be done yet..... I hope.....
  19. yes and no. Yes, because Ohtani is an Angel for life No because we are still a 3rd place team for 2023 and now the Angels will need to spend a hefty amount to get this team competitive for 2024-beyond.
  20. i think @Jeff Fletcher said it best with his tweet. It's a clubhouse culture Perry is trying to create. Bauer is probably at the end of that list to add.
  21. Not going over the tax confirmed. I cringe every time I hear he's hands on with the negotiations. Unless he knows Perry is trying to make a good trade so Arte stepped in to make sure they signed Drury
  22. The Angels infield depth looks great, but i'd have to imagine a good sized trade is in the works. I've been thinking Rengifo and Suarez for a SS or Rengifo + package for someone else. I kind of want them to take a run at Eovaldi (I think the 6-man rotation helps with his health) and then sign another bullpen arm. Either way, a trade HAS to be on the way. If not, then I feel like this team is still a 3rd place team.
