Ohtani news this week before the Winter Meetings?.... Or nah?
-
But imagine the Angels signing Ohtani and then doing other things to make the playoffs? That would be a fun as hell type story. Imagine the Dodgers whiffing on Ohtani and Yamomoto. A guy can dream.....

Angels sign Adam Kolarek (1 year, $900k)

haha yeah you're right. I'm just going to stay "Aggressive" all offseason for fun because I think this will be a tough one for the Angels. Just going to have some fun with it. -

Angels Free Agency Predictions
angelsnationtalk replied to Stradling's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
This one was actually very tough to think about. I'll go with the "F-it response" Who do you think will be the Angels first MLB free agent signing this off-season? Shohei Ohtani. Before winter meetings. This is why they haven't been "aggressive" yet. They want to get Ohtani done and build around it. Who will be the biggest name free agent they sign this off season? Ohtani for FA..... another top SP via trade. I'm prepared for a dumpster fire season, however.... -

Ron Washington Press Conference on Ballys Today (11am PST)

Love his passion, reminds me of Maddon and his "Angels way" mentality. Hope it works out. Also.... it took the press 2 questions to bring up the race card. Jesus. -
I love this idea, I really do. And I fully endorse it.... But this scenario is the kind where you present this to Perry in the WAR room with Arte sitting in the corner and when he hears this he jumps up saying " no no no, we don't need to rebuild, we're so close to winning I just need to spend $200+M on a 31+ year old"
-
No Matter what happens, I just hope our fanbase is prepared to only receive a comp pick after all of this. To me, that will be the biggest blow to this organization. I'm iffy on spending $50M+ on a guy, but Jesus they had 2 chances to rebuild their organization and shit on themselves both times. My gut feeling: Angels and Arte Moreno offer stupid money to do anything they can to keep him, miss out on the Ohtani sweepstakes and then Arte announces sometime this year that he is ready to sell. Like i've said all along, this is Arte's last "F-You" to the fans.

Angels hire Ron Washington as manager
angelsnationtalk replied to mmc's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
This team carries a TON of baggage so a little more won't hurt. -
Just bring back Scioscia at this point. He's younger than Buck and Ron. This team hasn't been the same since he left.

2024 MLB Free Agent List... Who do you want?
angelsnationtalk replied to SlappyUtilityMIF's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
That'd be nice to watch, but this team never comes close to going in the right direction. I just hope for the best. -
Is Theo Epstein the simplest answer?
angelsnationtalk replied to Dtwncbad's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
I've gotten to the point where I have to see it. I was thrilled Maddon was coming to coach and then nothing went well. Epstein wouldn't be able to "do his own thing" with Arte being so heavily involved. I'd like Epstein to be part of an ownership group if Arte sold. Then again, I still need to see action. -
They need a miracle. The rotation will consist of a lot of solid #3 and #4 guys so they need help there. They also have a AAA lineup still with either injuries or no consistency. Signing Ohtani would be fun, but it gets you exactly what you had this year. One star player with a revolving door at every other position.

Phil Nevin out as Angels manager, Minasian to remain GM
angelsnationtalk replied to mmc's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
I'm happy with these moves. I do like Minasian as the GM and he deserves the chance to build something through and through. Never was a fan of Nevin. I enjoyed his passion, but that was about it. I love the idea of Erstad, but I think they're going to go after a seasoned coach like Melvin and Buck (yikes). Salmon and maybe a few others might get some roles on the staff. -
I'd honestly be happy if the FO took the Victor Rojas approach.... Let Arte, Perry and Nevin stay but do one thing. Put a picture of Trout, Neto and O'Hoppe on the wall and tell everyone "If you don't want to win like these guy then get the hell out". Release Rendon and put others on the hot seat. I'd be happy if that's all they did.
