  1. Either that or Roberts is doing his classic "choke when it matters" act.
  2. It's obvious and it's not the players holding up to see $ amount. It's the other teams waiting for their next course of action. If he comes back to the Angels then suddenly the Blue Jays and Dodgers fire to the trade market. Also why the Angels haven't made moves yet. They're waiting on Ohtani.
  3. Leave it to ABC7 news to show the most detail regarding the Angels. They're the onyl people that have openly said the Angels feel confident in retaining him...... No writer really knows at this point. HA.
  4. Angels look like a sleeper team. That would be spicy seeing them get both.
  5. Perry sounds a little too bullish on Stassi and Rendon. Just hope they aren't blinded with their decisions heading into this week.
  6. Ohhh right..... So basically it will go from a massive slap in the face to a hard slap in the face.
  7. I was hoping Ohtani would sign before the Winter Meetings, but it seems like that won't be the case. Here's hoping the next few days are WILD.
  8. Biggest concerns: Starting Pitching Bullpen Third Base Left Field Right Field They need a lot to compete.
  9. Ohtani will get a truck load of cash, but I don't think it comes down to the highest bidder.
  10. The Angels have been much quieter this offseason than the past few. If I recall, they were making ML trades/signings before the Winter Meetings the last two years. I wonder if this has to do with their "Plan A, Plan B, Plan C" wondering the outcome of Ohtani. I would have thought they'd try and get those supporting deals done so Ohtani can see improvement. Time will tell.
  11. Agree to disagree. Teams absolutely can offer better prospects, however, I don't think a lot of them are willing to take on a contract like Yelich's. Obviously, the Brewers would retain some of the cash, but i'd be curious to see who's actually willing to take that kind of money. Dodgers could just offer straight prospects for Burnes and barely scratch their farm system.... Sadly.
  12. Offseason Plan: Sign Ohtani: 12yr $552M = $46 AAV Sign Jordan Hicks: 3yr/$15M = $5M AAV Trade Rengifo + Kochanowicz for Shane Bieber = +$7,200,000 AAV Trade Silseth + Dana + Adell for Corbin Burnes = + $14,100,000 AAV Gets you just shy of the $73M before hitting the tax. IDK.......
  13. Dude doesn't have many years left to live so I hope winning is beyond making money at this point. He's already made plenty of money, hasn't won much.
  14. No one will say exclusive because anyone talking about it is full of shit. Just their cute way of saying "disclaimer in case i'm way off". But yeah, i'm a tad hopeful too.
  15. Those guys should perform better than their freshman year. That's the whole idea behind player development and adjusting to the league. If anything they needed a freshman 15....
  16. Seems like anyone could have confirmed that. Surprised he didn't list the Giants either. It really boils down to the Angels and Dodgers. Dodgers can offer money and win-now team Angels can offer money and comfort. Something i've been thinking about would be the idea of Arte swooping in and telling Ohtani he will spend for additional help like Yamomoto and/or others. Plus trades. There has to be a reason they didn't want to trade him and Arte took back the team. I wouldn't be shocked if he comes back home. The other part of me hopes Ohtani feels like he owes it to the Angels in a small form. They let him do whatever he wanted and his injuries definitely hasn't helped the team. Part of their failures is on him is a small way. (This will trigger some people).
