  1. I was hoping the Angels would get Correa. Unfortunately it seems like if we have any plans on upgrading at SS it'd likely be via trade. Not sure how true Perry's comments on potentially going over the tax are, but if he did, I'd imagine it be for the rotation and bullpen now. Then trade for a SS. Oh boy
  2. Every year around this time I hear "Here comes Santa Clause" by Gene Autry pop on the radio and every year I hope it's a sign that this team is about to be incredibly good. I'm hoping the Angels have something special up their sleeve. Some incredibly stacked teams that the Angels need to compete against. Here's to hoping the Angels do something incredible..... for once.
  3. $26.9 AAV. I'd give Swanson the extra years for a lower AAV
  4. Although his network is wayyyyy more than anyone else... but it's nice to see an owner WANT to win and has said he will do whatever it takes. We all know these owners can easily afford going past the tax. The amount of money they earn for marketing these players and getting butts in the seats more than justifies the financial moves.
  5. Was thinking the same thing. Perry hasn't made any flashy moves since being the GM. Track record wouldn't suggest he's about to do it, either. Although the Contreras interest was...... interesting.
  6. I mean.... i'm in. Although if you DO sign Ohtani to an extension then that's what? over $900M guaranteed in the matter of one season?
  7. I hope its not real..... Just keep Rengifo there if that's the case.
  8. If Fried is indeed available, you know Perry will take a serious look. Good relationship with Anthopoulos and knows all their is to know about Fried. Asking price would be steep, but boy would that be a good get.
  9. Perry has done a good job adding depth and now it's time to make the splash for top-end talent. The depth makes it safer should something happen to Rendon. Falling back on Urshela is much better than Soto/Velazquez. Sign Correa. He doesn't have a QO attached to him and it immediately impacts the lineup and defense. Hold on to all depth/prospects to fill in the gaps for what's needed in the playoffs. To me, the Angels are fringe WC contenders with their current lineup. the AL has a ton of very very good teams.
  10. If this was 2-3 years ago then it'd be a perfect match. We severely lack top-end OF minor league talent. But boy do the Red have some fun SS options I'd take Marte in a heartbeat.
  11. Based on the comment from Perry it seems like he's finally going to be able to build something competitive and he knows he's going to do everything he can to make a winner. Don't really think Ohtani will leave now. Look at Judge. Aside from money, Ohtani could become a legacy thing for the Angels. All depends who the new owner is.
  12. Honestly it's not a bad move. I'd pay the extra years to keep the AAV down. Who knows what the tax number will look like in 10 years. $260-$275M? If that's the case, no problem.
  13. If they have "significant" money to spend then go after Correa/Swanson and Senga. They really are trying to add pieces in any place which is cool to see, just hope that means SS too. No way this is Arte being the only one making the financial increase.
  14. IF the Angels do intend on going past the tax of $233M then I'd imagine they can bump it all the way up around $250M. And if they did then they'd pay a tax of $3.4M. Just randomly thinking that they could spend up to $252M. There's an additional surcharge of 20% of you spend $20M over the base tax. Which puts them at $152M or less to spend before the surcharge. Not saying they will spend that much, but if they did open it up a bit then i'd imagine there's still a hard ceiling (aside from what they agree on internally).
  15. I'd take his defense alllllll day if our offense is rocking out Ohtani, Trout, Ward, Renfroe and a healthy Rendon.
  16. Sure, but if they win 1 World Series in the next 9 years then i'm sure it'd age just fine.
  17. If Swanson is the cheaper one and it lets us allocate that extra $ to Senga then i'd be ecstatic.
  18. The bidders must have all told Arte we don't mind going over the tax. This is getting interesting.
