  1. The Angels have entered a "win-now" window for not only Trout, but now Ohtani. And it's potentially franchise altering if he leaves. Arte said a long time ago he'd spend over the tax if it's "for the right player". Ohtani has to be that player. Especially if they are deciding to keep him and attempt to be competitive. They almost have to spend on a top SS to avoid losing him because we whiffed on the playoffs again. IMO It doesn't matter who the owner will be. Arte is still the current owner and he's got to see what's in front of him. The new owner will have to understand that spending more money just had to be done.
  2. It's nice seeing a breath of fresh air down in the minors. Hopefully change will continue to turn this entire organization in the right direction. Great piece @Jeff Fletcher
  3. FA preference: Turner Correa Boegarts Swanson Cost preference: Swanson Boegarts Turner Correa
  4. At first it was skillset-wise but i was wrong, I looked more into it and actually do like Adames. Great arm at SS with power. My fault on that. I still don't like Rengifo though.
  5. Obviously, taken with a grain of salt, but this is interesting if there's any truth behind it. I guess the question we will find out next week is "Are the Angels going to go over the tax?" By all means, if they do sign a top FA SS then i'm getting ready for Angels baseball in October.
  6. Is today April Fools Day? The Rays looking to double their payroll or what?
  7. I'd rather have Rengifo than Adames.... And I don't like Rengifo.
  8. I like these moves. To me, it's the only moves our bullpen needs. Gives these guys a chance to complete for a spot, or hang in AAA as depth pieces. Perry then goes into Winter Meetings with one job.
  9. I'd spend in the shortstop market at this point. The Angels don't have a solidified closer, but they have plenty of options to fill their bullpen. Murphy/Joyce/Torres and even Bachman can help fill up spots in bullpen. They have a TON of young and fun options that'll compete for spots. Tepera, Quijada, Herget, Loup, Barria, Wantz, Warren, Devenski, Webb, Marte, Ortega, Rodriguez, Murphy, Joyce, Bachman, Torres. There's definitely some fun names that could be their debut.
  10. Which means Perry has one job for the Winter Meetings. Shortstop.
  11. I see what Perry is doing.... Urshela is friends with Correa and Devenski is his former teammate from the Astros. Perry bout to be COOKING....... ha
  12. It's not, but the idea is there. If the Angels actually are looking to keep spending in either the starting pitching market or the SS market, then a trade could be made to fulfill the other. Just a food for thought kind of thing.
  13. They don't have Verlander anymore, of course Cueto doesn't replace him, but who knows. It's interesting to say the least
  14. Let the rumored Japanese group purchase the Angels and get Ohtani to the playoffs this year. I'm sure he'd stay. At this point you can't let him walk.
  15. Despite the QO, i'd LOVE if the Angels got Bassitt. Would almost guarantee the Angels would flip a trade for a SS, but this team would look pretty damn good.
  16. just posting to discuss what we think about the Angels going after Bassitt if this is true at all. I'd like it.
  17. I don't get the sense Ohtani is that guy to want to go through the free agency process, but then again, he will if he needs to in order to win. The Angels will offer him plenty of money. Perry has said he wants Ohtani long term and they know they'll need to pay up. Ohtani will want to stay if they can win. I don't think Ohtani will make it complicated. All he's been saying is "I want to win". It's simple for Ohtani but those words are so complicated for the Angels.
  18. Dodgers cleared like $100M haven't they? They are going to be BUSY BUSY during the winter meetings.
  19. Yes for the premium SS considering this team historically likes a star SS with GG potential. The Angels still need a SS to contend (IMO), and this is the only year left where they can give Ohtani reasons to stay. If i'm Ohtani, i'd want the best lineup on the field behind me everyday.
  20. Nobody will need to spend for Ohtani if the Angels get to the playoffs to make him want to stay. Just a thought.
  21. This is a good point. Let's also say the sale if official halfway into the season. Like June. Doesn't this mean the new owner will only pay for half the season + tax while Arte pays for the first 3 months? Can someone clarify this for me?
  22. Trade market makes most sense for them, BUT i'd love to drool on the idea of them getting a relief arm before the winter meetings and they have only one area to focus on for those meetings. Would love for Perry to either find a good trade or walk away with one of those top 4 SS guys during the winter meetings and call it an off-season. We could finally have good hope for October ball.
