  1. He'd fit right in with Trout and Rendon! On a side note, I have no idea why Rosenthal included him in his article. White Sox are going for it with a different manager and Anderson is a big part of that team.
  2. I'd love to have Anderson, but I really love Quero. Although, there's never a guarantee with prospects so if that's what it takes. It'd probably take an overwhelming package to get Anderson.
  3. I'm for it! I still think the Angels have plenty of solid options for bullpen so I like this small deal
  4. Like we've been hoping for years now. True, but i've gotta think he's had significant conversations with potential buyers and my assumption is they've all said to spend like he wants cuz they'll do the same. I was set on the Angels having a gap-year, but it seems like he's been given a green light to go for it. I think we will ultimately find when they make a decision for SS. Plus, if Arte sold the team in say.....July.... then wouldn't the new owner only be responsible for the remaining payroll from July-October + maybe luxury tax penalty? So in a way Arte and new owner wouldn't be paying too much
  5. Maybe this is finally the year Arte goes over the tax like he said he'd do for the right player. A final farewell.
  6. You're right, they could. I'm just curious as to what though. So far they have made trades where they've only picked up payroll by trading pre-arb guys or prospects. Unless they make a big trade for a young stud, but as of now I'd imagine any addition is more $$
  7. I expected the Angels to bump their actual payroll to around $192-193M so I'm not sure what they got left in the tank. Although Perry mentions they aren't done which is definitely good to see. The sale isn't finished yet so i'd imagine Arte can operate with full control. My only speculation is that the Winter Meetings haven't started yet, so who knows what can come out of it. Perry will have a chance to talk all the major chips there so something could "fall into their lap". A part of me goes to thinking that we could see him take a run at Senga. He mentioned he wants to play for a winner and Perry being active very early could be him trying to get it together to attract him.
  8. Why not sign Ohtani and a top SS if the payroll goes up to 250-300M? It'd be the same thing at that point.
  9. I hope they aren't done with major moves. The team does look deeper, but I think they could use a big SS or another solid starter to be really competitive. They're in dire need on a leadoff hitter and there's a few SS that could slot there. I'm satisfied with our bullpen, however. There's a lot of guys who can help out. For all we know, Ben Joyce might find his way in the bigs soon and become an instant threat. Our depth there is good.
  10. I’m not sure why Rosenthal would mention Tim Anderson, but I’m all for it. He’d cost a pretty penny to trade for, but we desperately need a leadoff hitter. That’s why I love he or Turner. SS: Anderson/Turner LF: Ward CF: Trout DH: Ohtani 3B: Rendon RF: Renfroe 1B: Walsh/Urshela C : Stassi 2B: Fletcher
  11. Love the Renfroe trade. All we need now is a SS and possibly a starter. So who’s realistic for the Angels then? Bogaerts, Turner, Correa and Swanson seem like pipe dreams. what names are possible via trade? Rosario,…?
  12. So we really are going to get "depth" pieces below Rengifo/Fletcher/Walsh, rather than the other way around, aren't we? Wake me up when the 2023 season is over.
  13. The dude wen't from the Angels monitoring Correa to wanting an "elite" outfielder.
  14. https://www.sanspo.com/article/20221122-25HZIQSRP5PW3F2ROPKDXBXEG4/ Looks like Shintaro Fujinami will be posted December 1st. Boras client that throws over 100mph
  15. 100%. Fixing SS does help them with options to swing a trade for something else as well (SP/OF). If not, it's going to be hard for this team to compete by betting on just health plus bounce-back years for half the team. They need to figure things out if they want to compete against the Astros/Mariners for division and Orioles, Jays, Rays and other teams for the WC.
  16. Ownership has only cared about actual payroll and it was around $188M last year. If anything, it might be bumped to $190M. I'd say the Angels have about $15M left to spend to get to the number they like to be at.
  17. Exactly this. Sadly, it comes down to spending a lot more, but essentially if you got a Turner/Swanson/Correa then you force Rengifo/Fletcher/Urshela/Walsh to be depth pieces which is what they truly are. If you fill in "depth" pieces for Rengifo/Walsh/Fletcher then i'm not sure you've raised your floor at all. Same can be said for outfield help and rotation help.
  18. That's a good point. These guys are essentially depth players in a way. If the Angels can actually sharpen their talent at the top then these are pretty good depth pieces. Rather than looking the opposite way,
  19. I don't think much has changed (yet). Angels are slightly below what they paid last year in terms of payroll so they could just be spending their money that they have. If they signed Swanson/Turner/Correa then i'd suspect something is up.
  20. Yup! I think signing an OF or a SS will indicate a trade will follow. If either of those scenarios happened then i'd feel slightly optimistic for the season. Health is my biggest concern with these guys. Which also makes me feel like Perry might not want to trade guys like Adell/Rengifo/Suarez, etc. He wants to keep the depth.
