I'm really not down with the Herrera trade in May or even (most of) June idea.
He'll cost a Top 10 prospect at a minimum (a cost that may be better utilized later in the season) and you're putting an enormous amount of expectation on one guy to fix the pen - if Herrera struggles, gets hurt, or if anyone else fails to improve or gets hurt, you're right back where you started, minus a prospect and maybe depth depending on who you DFA from our relatively option-less pen.
I really think it's just the staff balancing itself out - rotation didn't offer much help or length in March/April, pen picked up the slack and probably burned themselves up a little bit in the process - now the rotation is leveling out and the pen is still catching its breath, while being expected to deliver in high lev situations. 

I would say Altuve gets a hit less than 50% of the time

Sticking with Jose Alvarez when it was clear after the second batter that he didn't have it IS Scioscia's fault.  He kept Alvarez in there for another few batters, just long enough for the Astros to stick it to the Angels.  He could've brought in Noe Ramirez, he could've brought in Justin Anderson, he could've brought in Jim Johnson, he could've brought in Blake Parker and we still likely would've won that game.

Get someone now. That's what prospects are for. I don't think it's going to get better for the bullpen.

This is what I do not understand
you could have signed a couple of reasonable bullpen arms in the offseason for a slight over pay. Now as we’re rebuilding the farm were gonna have to ship away a couple of pieces to improve it. Head scratcher 

Middle relief has been a big problem for us.  It did us in last year.  And even the World Series year, Maddon lost confidence in the middle relief which is why he was relying on Arlodis Chapman so much in the World Series.

Will this cause Epp to change his bullpen strategy, going forward?
Succeeded a year ago, but also an abysmal failure so far in 2018.

I feel the bullpen is going to blow about 10-15 more games before the trade deadline.

So mr statistic, what gives you that impression? Is it the 0 playoff wins in how many years now? Scioscia is skating off 2002. Arte is a moron for keeping him around 

Another ugly loss. Bad fundamental baseball, bad offense outside of two swings of the bat, bad relief pitching, and bad management when it mattered.

The bulk of the blame should be on creating the bases loaded for Altuve situation. I'm not confident with anyone getting out of that situation unscathed.

Idk it’s pretty bad. I don’t trust Alvarez, Bedrosian, Parker, Johnson, and I barely trust Anderson. That’s a pretty pathetic bullpen 

I'm pretty critical of the manager, but today you just have to blame Alvarez. He just flat out didn't get the job done.

this bullpen is my nightmare.  a really good team otherwise.  
nothing more demoralizing to a team and fan base than losing games late.

Nothing happened, he gave us a great 7 innings and now people are pissed because he didn’t go 8.  

This was the most glaring weakness going into the season so it's really not that surprising.
