Ausmus was Eppler’s hand picked choice less than a year ago.
To be fair, Eppler also hand picked Bour, Cahill, Harvey, and Allen. He doesn't hesitate to get rid of underperformers once they become obvious. Ausmus was just next in line.

I was going to say the Angels retain Trout, Upton, and Pujols, then send Chuck my address, but I have a feeling what he would say.
So, I'll go with the Angels signing Madden, Cole, and Odorizzi. -

Would anyone agree to take Darvish and 75 to 80 percent of his remaining contract if it came with Quintana and didnt require parting with Adell or Marsh?
Before planning the idea, Darvish was very good this year and mostly healthy, and Quintana's FIP was almost a run better than his ERA.
Quintana seems redundant. We already have enough back of the rotation types and I wouldn't want to spend 10M for another one.
Darvish, on the other hand, is an interesting thought. If they would eat a chunk of change and trade him for a scrub, and if we could still afford Cole, then yes. -
I took Maddon, only because Madden wasn't available.

I'll stick with Madden. I like it better.

He couldn't be any worse than Ausmus was. Besides, bringing an old football coach in to manage might be the next moneyball move.
-
Well, ya gotta admit. Madden coming back feels natural.

I believe that some japanese kid signed with the Royals a couple of seasons ago but I don’t know the circumstances.
17 minutes ago, Inside Pitch said:Yes. Kaito Yuki signed as a 16 year old last year.
The Angels attempted to sign Darvish when he was in HS.
So then signing this kid is a viable possibility?

If anyone is stressing out over where this guy is going to pitch you probably should know that he hasn’t even been drafted by a Japanese team yet and it could be 3-4 years before he could get posted. Don’t lose your hair over this.
I'm not going to pretend like I have a inkling how this stuff works, but if he has yet to be drafted, isn't he open to sign with an American team?

Exchange out Rengoofy for Simmons so we can add minor league depth? Doesn't strike me as a good way to enter our window of contention.

With the entire baseball world turning to advanced stats, I can see Billy Beane's next overlooked and undervalued asset becoming the old scouting methods.

Maybe this is the last hurrah from the injury god. Let's get all this crap out of the way and head into 2020 with an elite pitching staff and healthy player chomping at the bit.
Screw Houston. -

Eppler took over a train wreck of a farm system, thanks to DiPoto, and you guys think no one else in baseball is paying attention? The Red Sox are about to face some major payroll issues, especially if Sale and Iovaldi are out long term. Most of their top prospects have either already made their way to Boston, or have been dealt. JMO, a guy that can restock a farm system may be what they are looking for.
This argument is not without merit.

I disagree that everyone should be tested. Perhaps some laws should be reconstructed to more effectively deal with the respective issues but there are privacy considerations at stake when it comes to government oversight of personal lives. Certainly those of us with a high level of public responsibility need to be (and are) routinely subject to testing, but for the overall public privacy should be the primary concern.

Seems like a pointless illustration more indicative of a publication like the National Enquirer than the LA Times.

Given the thread title, I thought this was going to be something about TDawg.

He hit two 500+ homers when he was 13, and another at 14. None at 15. None at 16. Sounds like he is regressing. 17 and over the hill?

Watching an Angels game without Trout is like taking a dump and finding the roll empty.

Done a lot of traveling for work (flying) and catch a game when I can, but when I was younger I traveled with my motorcycle and camping gear. I never specifically planned a trip to see baseball, but rarely missed the opportunity when it presented itself,

Unless Trout's slumps badly the rest of the season, I think AL MVP is still in his hands if he hits something like .290 .440 1.100 185 OPS+ 10+ WAR with 50 Hrs and 120+ RBI
Some jackass on ESPN said LeMahieu is "unquestionably" the best hitter in baseball.
What scenario would be more satisfying? (Dodger Poll)

I wouldn't mind seeing the Dodgers win the series, but I most certainly don't want my head to explode. I imagine it would be a rather painless death, but it sure would create a heck of a mess for the wife to clean up.
